Good Bad Ugly - USD

Good...Toure! Knight Sneed (except the one bad pass decision) Rosy (called a very good game) Flowers (going to break one soon)
Bad....missed FG, fumble, some poor tackling, secondary was very suspect, got some QB pressure but couldn't get him down

Glad to have the win. Beats the crap out of a loss

Oh. And I know TTech is a big step up from USD but MSU had zero run game to compliment their vaunted aerial non-assault. The three QB rotation already? If we don’t beat their ass by 24 points I’ll feel it was a let down.

A win, on the road, even with significant mistakes. Nice to win without having to play a perfect game. Plenty of stuff to work on but excellent game strategy and awesome passing execution. Really loved the answer FG in 43 seconds before halftime. Also liked ending USDs home opener streak.
I agree ... think that was huge. :thumb:

I thought our pass protection looked great, but like many other posters was concerned with our run game, specifically our run blocking. We just arent opening any holes for our runners.

On the defensive side of the ball I thought our pass rush looked good but we struggled up front against the run. There were also a few missed tackles in the backfield that need to be made. Other than that I thought it was a great first game.

Sneed's int's look bad on the stat sheet but watching the game he was obviously picking apart that defense. I was impressed with our play calling too. There were a lot of easy reads as a result of well designed plays. We have some great offensive minds on the coaching staff between Rosenbach and Pease.

The ugly.....Eastwood......he needs to work on ball security 😡

I think you’re all full of complete shit. Adam Eastwood is a young running back. Who cares if he had one fumble ???? They Griz we’re in no chance to lose that game, plus he recovered it by himself. I would love to see any of you fools be in his position and have the pressure like he has on himself and for his team. He is going to be a huge contributor to this Griz program this year. Being a running back is no easy position when you have multiple players running at you in every angle. Fumbles are just as bad as interceptions. I would love to see some positivity for this kid, instead we have losers like you behind a screen (probably have no experience playing football) telling him what he should do. I’m a fan of Eastwood and believe he is going to get better every game.

Sneed's pick in EZ was bad for multiple reasons, but why weren't the Griz running the ball then and trying to eat up the clocks? Didn't need a TD. A FG would iced the game.

UM was 10-16 on 3d down efficiency, and one of those was the last kneel down I assume. So, really 10-15, which is outstanding.

No. 6, SD receiver, was very good. Their QB was very good too.

I thought the D was outstanding most of the time, and when it counted.

I like Knight. Hits the hole, has a burst, and has a move or two. But doesn't overuse his moves.

Sneed was outstanding and very accurate. He rifled many passes into tight areas, and was completely on the money with most of those passes.

Think only 1 receiver drop, and 2 rb drops. Great scoop by the TE on the low bullet at an important time. JLM caught some tough balls in tight spots.

Was there in fact replay challenges in this game? I was at a bar and didn't have sound, and didn't notice.

No letdowns. Played well the whole game in all phases of the game. Showed a semblance of a running game, especially later in game.

With the 3 team rushes for -1 each backed out, UM averaged. 3.32 per rush. Still not very good. USD averaged 3.5.

The team is in fact good, as I thought and hoped they would be, and hopefully can improve over the season. More good players, more depth, this year. They play very hard.

Here is a better attempt:
Good: The win (W)
Bad: End Zone INT's and missed field goals

Being the first game of the season there are obvious things that are needing/going to improve. However, end zone INT's (no matter how much you pick a defense apart) and missed field goals, are points on the board that are lost.

I am sick and tired of hearing the crap out of the feckless little brother cacophony. So much so that maybe I am holding us to a higher standard than before....I am expecting a little more now to silence the noise.

Of course I am happy with the Win. Really happy with it matter of fact. Especially because it was on the road. Just fix the scoring mistakes. Mistakes in the middle of the field weigh far less than in scoring position.

Good lord I hated seeing the kneeling on the ball at the end of the game. Giving the kicker some practice for a field goal would not have been the worst thing in the world, nor have been seen as poor sportsmanship.

Couch the rest of the game how you want but those are my bad pieces as I saw it.

It was a beat down according to Hauck

"I don't really think the score says what a beatdown it was. We missed a short field goal. We threw a pick on the six, and we took a knee on the five at the end of the game. It was a helluva performance by our guys. I'm really proud of them."

Good: Sneed. Enough said. Only a couple bad decisions all day. O-line. Pretty good pass protection with just a couple of breakdowns.
Bad: Eastwood. Just doesn’t have Divison I power. Although I DID like him running that guy over on the 2 yard line on that swing pass.
D-line. They just can’t generate any pressure. Period. That’s not going to serve well in a pass-happy BSC.
Ugly: The Refs. TWO passes on the same drive were obvious bounce passes. And yet they called both catches and there’s no review, no challenge? WTF?
Ugly: TWO dropped swing passes that would have extended drives, when the RB’s were wide OPEN. Can’t have that happening.

You’re ridiculous if you think Eastwood isn’t division 1 worthy. He’s a young kid, he has so much growth and development in him. I think he’s a complete stud and is going to do big things.

Posting and observing by Griz fans needs to improve too.

There was only interception in the EZ, and there was only one missed FG.

Jesus, who put the splintered stick up your ass? When speaking in general terms, as the poster was, the use of plural phrasing is perfectly appropriate.

2 best things I saw is when the running game wasn’t working the Griz changed to what would work - took what the d gave them. Nobody can complain about Hauck being stubborn in the game plan

2nd thing is the way the Griz came out of the 1/2. Coaches earned that win. SDSU has some good weapons and defense.

No it isn't. It is misleading and wrong.

Haahahahaa. Have you taken a poll to find out how many eGrizzers feel misled and wronged by his post, Mr. Self-righteous adjudicator of moral wrongs?

Look at yourself in the mirror. What an idiot you are.

Question...my feed was stupid at times, so didn’t pay attention...I complained about run game performance as have many on here, but were the starting o-line guys same as the depth chart? And if so, thoughts on if that big JUCO stud will help out?

egriz, I am sorry for my poor grammatical use of the plural version of some of the words that were used in my earlier post. I would hope that my apology would, perhaps, help you to look beyond the grammatical errors and see the intended context of the feelings that, as a human, I possess. I do realize that, while my opinion is subjective, that my errors in grammar might make my opinions become misconstrued. But, I would pray that they might be taken in the spirit of a true University of Montana Grizzly Football fan and, as such, you would not hold it against me in the future. I have never played the game and I am misleading and wrong.

Historically, we have usually played a cupcake on the first game, in order to fine tune all the parts. Today, they went into a competent foe and delivered the goods. Yes, it would be better if we could run the ball, but as someone else said above, the MVFC is designed for the run, both offense and defense. The ability of the Griz to exploit those short throws meant that there was not the advantage USD should have had.
Overall, I'm impressed and looking forward to next week.
