Call me weird, but I prefer neither.
You're weird, Captain Obvious.

Buttegrizzle said:Ugly - what the actual furball was that delay of game call at 2:27 in the second? The ref stands in between the center and McD as if to wait for TV, but the play clock is running! Down to 4 or 5 seconds, then he hustles out. McD takes the snap and has the ball with 1 second left on the playclock. And we get flagged for the DOG on 3rd and 5.
I watched the game live and was confused about the ref causing it. but it was even more egregious seeing the TV still shot (thanks Everett) and seeing it wasn’t even a delay.

It wasn't a targeting penalty and he wasn't ejected. It was a run of the mill unsportmanslike conduct call. Of course he's playing.

True. However, there is another aspect to this as well.
"ARTICLE 1. When a player is ejected from the game due to a flagrant personal
foul (Rule 2-10-3), that team’s conference shall automatically initiate a video
review for possible additional sanctions before the next scheduled game."
Anybody truly have faith in the BSC?

Ejections for personal fouls other than targeting are pretty rare so it's probably nothing worth worrying about. Unsportsmanlike conduct which was called in the last game is something different altogether. Personally I think that a lot of unsportsmenlike penalties are kind of stupid. They're usually for excessive celebration or jawing at the other team or the officials. Just dumb stuff. IMHO, the officials often get these wrong. They somehow manage to miss the egregious ones which need to be called while calling things that are silly or inconsequential. Last week's game was a case in point. They could have called a personal foul on a late hit out of bounds on the defender pushing Junior. Personally I thought it was a bit excessive but nothing major. What really should have been a penalty was half of the Sac State team coming across the field. That was pretty egregious. Other than that I think there should have just been warnings and play on.

I did appreciate Bobby’s response to Frank in the presser yesterday when he asked about Walker sitting the first half of the next game. Don’t know how many times he can say “that’s incorrect.”
Pretty rare that a sideline warning was not issued before a blanket penalty for personal foul was. Also wild that some of the sac state gestures later in the game were not called as they are specifically outlined in the rule book (I.e. the crotch grab). My favorite phrase when reviewing the section on personal fouls for automatic penalties is “prolonged gyrating”. I guess a little is ok? Lol
