Go back & watch it yourself - he credits himself for two missed tackles during the game, and that would be true of just one drive where within four plays he didn’t break down to make the tackle on the QB for a sure sack and let the back push him out of the way on his way through the hole. I was reminded during the half that he wasn’t the only backer with issues and that was a fair criticism. Didn’t get to see the second half yet, so it sounds as if they figured it out in time.
It’s been well documented here & count me among the group looking for real tackling and less group hugging hoping to separate the ball from the carrier. Get the guy with the ball on the carpet with as many of your teammates as possible. That gives them a chance for more of that dirty stuff whiny-phen was so concerned about.
So you didn’t even watch the second half? How did you become an expert on the game? Did you talk to the linebacker coach or the backers?
I agree that tackling was weak and needs to improve. But that doesn’t mean players had bad games. If they were so bad, their backups would have played more. You also might check around to see who’s playing hurt. Sanders got a lot of criticism last year, but he was playing hurt and the coaches must have believed he was the best option. Are you criticizing Sandry this year too?
No. As we’ve already established in the last couple of years, like yourself - I played D1 somewhere other than Montana. I was a tight end, so I’ve gone up against every kind of defender and was tackled a time or two.
I have no idea whos’ play is limited by injuries, but know everyone has got issues they are dealing with. There was no mention of Sandry or Sanders and my criticism was of the play in the first half. And I’d again differ in the notion that a defensive player can have a good game if they tackle poorly, that’s the first bullet point in the job description. This season, Semore seems to have no trouble substituting guys, witness guys like Cochran getting reps and making plays yesterday. And perhaps if Stitt had valued another DB or two, they wouldn’t have the razor thin ranks they suffer now.
You endorsed kem’s assessment. That included multiple games, being out of position, and allowing successful qb draws—not the first half of the last game. Maybe you need to learn to express yourself better. That would help. Not sure I am buying some of your other stuff either. Think you are the one who should watch the game more carefully or find out more what is going with the program.
