Gotta add one more. Stitt's ball sack for going for that 4th down on his own 28 or whatever it was. That was crucial, risky, scary, and huge all at once. And it was executed to perfection by Gresch.

HookedonGriz said:Good
- Jensen playing extremely well
- the O Line continues to play well.
- when Calhoun got the Ball he ran well
- the receivers made some big grabs (Calhoun, Curran, Horner, and Akem)
- Dante Olson played great while he was in
- Favorosa playing much better
- Griz outscoring ISU 26-10 in second half
- Keenan Curran high pointing that on side kick
- some slight adjustments on both sides at half which gives me a little hope
- the no quit attitude
Bad
- defense still scares the hell out of me
- we play way too soft and way too many missed tackles
Ugly
- I hate bringing up refs but they did not help the Griz at all early. Some really bad calls
- Michael dean flipping off the Griz crowd on national tv....haha
- our defense giving up 500+ yards....again. I think this is now our MO and we just need to swesrcs lot every game

Safeties first half were non existent. Oline played well again. A few runs by Jensen were huge. No INTs. Better kick coverage, but still need return work but change at returner showed promise in his full speed attack. Dante looks like he needs more playing time...great hustle and tackling! Some great WR catches. I thought Stitt did much better with situational hurry up. When had them on heels he did it, but not just to do it.
I was surprised to see that Strahm had 14 tackles. He had a few series where things did not go well for him and a few really bad missed tackles. Ended up having a nice game overallPlayerRep said:Ursus1 said:Kickoffs were way better with Semenza! Strahm had bad game and was not giving great effort chasing after runners who broke past the line. Strahm led the team in tackles with 14, along with Banks, had .5 sacks and .5 TFL, and he had a "bad" game? Really?

The point is how many he missed; arm tackles that ISU backs ran right through. He had 3 solo tackles, a small number for how many plays they ran to his lane. They ran at Strahm and they passed at Strahm, because they could successfully. Many of his "tackles" were grabbing assists and not real stops. He is overrated; not in the same league as McSurdy or Coyle. There is a reason why QB draws have been so successful against us; he is frequently out of position and is slow to pursue. He is in the middle of a defense that can't get itself off the field. 30 first downs, 89 plays, 532 yards.PlayerRep said:Ursus1 said:Kickoffs were way better with Semenza! What he said and they way things actually were are two different things. Did you watch the game?PlayerRep said:Fahque said:I was surprised to see that Strahm had 14 tackles. He said in the post-game that he missed 2 tackles, and the linebackers missed 6 or 7 as a group.

Ursus1 said:Let's not forget the "blanket" coverage he had on wheel route that was a TD. Needs to do his reads and not freelance...likely they saw that and exposed it

Go back & watch it yourself - he credits himself for two missed tackles during the game, and that would be true of just one drive where within four plays he didn’t break down to make the tackle on the QB for a sure sack and let the back push him out of the way on his way through the hole. I was reminded during the half that he wasn’t the only backer with issues and that was a fair criticism. Didn’t get to see the second half yet, so it sounds as if they figured it out in time.
It’s been well documented here & count me among the group looking for real tackling and less group hugging hoping to separate the ball from the carrier. Get the guy with the ball on the carpet with as many of your teammates as possible. That gives them a chance for more of that dirty stuff whiny-phen was so concerned about.
I could expect no different response from you when the facts and most everyone else's observations don't fit your narrative. If you really believe the MLB does not have a major role in defending against QB draws, then it's you that doesn't "know what you're talking about on the this subject, in my view." Gregorak exposed this Griz weakness last year because he knew.PlayerRep said:You don't know what you're talking about on this subject, in my view. Buss had 3 solos, and Banks had 4 solos, by comparison. Are you saying they also had too few solos? I haven't noticed any qb draws where he was out of position or not blocked/screened well, but need to look more closely at the last game. Show the tape to back up your statement. Would like to see what you saw. Note that Strahm is in various blitz packages, and is one of the stand up guys on the line in some of the packages. Can't imagine that stopping the qb draw/run is one of his responsibilities in those packages. He pursues well and has good speed (was a safety in high school). No one has ever compared him to Coyle or McSurdy, to my knowledge.kemajic said:The point is how many he missed; arm tackles that ISU backs ran right through. Are you talking about Banks?

So you didn’t even watch the second half? How did you become an expert on the game? Did you talk to the linebacker coach or the backers?
I agree that tackling was weak and needs to improve. But that doesn’t mean players had bad games. If they were so bad, their backups would have played more. You also might check around to see who’s playing hurt. Sanders got a lot of criticism last year, but he was playing hurt and the coaches must have believed he was the best option. Are you criticizing Sandry this year too?
