Good, Bad, Ugly - Idaho

The good: consistent and strong pass rush. McCoy made some plays and completions that other QBs wouldn’t be able to pull off with a mix of luck and raw talent. I know, I know, every team the Griz play has an ‘underrated or great QB.’ But this guy was for real. Keeping pressure on him is what won the game IMO.
Totally agree! :thumb:

Edit: One of the reasons even "outsiders" view the Big Sky as strong is the number of good-to-excellent QBs the teams have. Hell, even (relatively) weak Idaho State has two of them. They put up over 500 yards of passing offense against EWU (all right, it was just EWU ... but still). Between the two, they completed almost 70% of their tries. The NAU quarterback has over a thousand yards in passing, completes around 70%, and has a passer rating of about 131. And so on.

Good point, a bit like Laurel combined with Billings.

Laurel-Billings < Greeley.

Guess it depends on if you prefer sugar beets and refining byproducts or cow $hit/death.

Did you know that Greeley has a odor hotline????

stilwtrgrizz you were right, no penalty to Mayginnes on the play, 36 minute on, there was a Personal foul against Idaho during the play and
unsportsmanlike after the play on Maginnes. Foul on Idaho was for taking his helmet off.

There was a penalty. But there were offsetting penalties, so no impact to the play.
OK, thanks. Whatever happened afterwards, I just loved seeing a Griz O-line men stay after somebody like that !

Given the ref situation, not sure the idaho guy gets a penalty unless MaG's helmet isn't on the ground.

I was surprised that Mayginnes wasn't ejected. If that is a defensive player on a qb, four yards out of bounds and driving a player through some advertising? Hard to argue that you didn't see the sidelines.

It’s an interesting discussion. I see blocks like that on Twitter posted all week long as highlight reel plays. The sports casters love them. Some of those players are flagged and some of them are not because they are truly blocking until the whistle blows.

I have no idea when the whistle was blown here and when you’re engaged in hand to hand combat like that, you really don’t have a good feel for where the line is at.

Personally, I love the play and it set the tone. it’s about time our O line has some nastiness!

Watch the game again and focus on the O-line. There were a NUMBER of pancake blocks, plus obviously the Mayginnes block. They really appeared to gel until Walker went out. Not "perfect" by any means, but a drastic improvement from games past. I didn't think Panfiloff did horrible, but there was a definite step down from Walker.

Forbes had at least two pancake blocks.

Why would he be ejected? It was his first unsportsmanlike. And if a QB ripped an opposing players helmet off the way Mayginnes got his ripped off, the QB would get flagged.

As did Walker. And even Panfiloff had one or two after subbing in for Walker. It was a beautiful thing to watch, for sure. :thumb: :thumb:

Flagrant personal foul; you don't need a second unsportsmanlike for that call. I believe the player who ripped his helmet off was flagged. I'm not saying I didn't love the aggression, I'm just saying it would not have surprised me if he got tossed.

Did anybody else notice that Maginnes lost his helmet again later on in the game?
