because he has made a huge contribution to this program. he's the reason we nearly knocked off new mexico two years ago in the big dance. beat ucla in lost angeles. nearly upset northern colorado in last year's big sky championship game. and surely indirectly contributed to our recruitment of cherry and jamar. so stop knocking selvig! i don't give a rat's ass if he's skinny, slow or can't dribble. it's not whether he can shoot threes, pass brilliantly or help out on interior defense. you've totally missed his greatest contribution to montana basketball. because without him we never would have recruited possibly the best center in the history of this program, brian qvale. and without qvale, none of the great stuff that has happened to this program the last four years would have happened. period. for whatever else he does or does not do on the court--thank you derek selvig!

Nice to see several sane posts about this in a row. It was starting to seem like the Twilight Zone in here.

Not only that but he probably still has a big game left in him. Last night he was hampered by early foul trouble and never got a chance to get untracked offensively. But was rebounding well in the short time he was the floor and still was factor defensively.

He's a tough Montana kid, he knows whats ahead and what he has to do. You are right, he does have a big game left in him.

In the conference, which was when he started to get back in season form from his ankle injury, he has done this:

9th in conference rebounding (1st for UM); 10th in conference assists (2 less than Cherry and 6 less than Jamar); 5th in conference free throw percentage (Cherry is 3rd); 11th in conf steals; 7th in conf 3-pt percentage (1st for UM; 46%); 3rd in conf blocked shots; 8th in conf assists to turnover ratio (ahead of Cherry and behind Jamar); and 4th in conf in defensive rebounds.
