GFP - Summarizing / discussing observations and frustrations from the NAU loss

I thought that Andrew's anecdote about asking Bobby about his changes in punt coverage from his first stint here was VERY telling.

None of this is fixable imo. We are a product of our leadership and until that is addressed, we will continue to circle the drain.

Kyle Sample might just be my Griz fan spirit animal at this point in time. I appreciated his tweets on Saturday, and not pulling any punches while on the pod. Glad Schmidt was able to give his perspective on 1.0 and 2.0 and maybe the landscape changes that could be having an effect.

Speaking of not pulling any punches, I would say by what we have seen from Colter, Kyle Hansen, Frank and Rainey this year, at pressers, and on twitter this weekend, the media is extremely tired of working with Hauck. Is there any way that Haslam has any understanding of the free advertising and publicity we are missing out on due to the lack of cooperation from the HC position. This fan base is always hungry for more and we are seemingly forced to digest repeat content centered around Hauck pregame, Hauck postgame, Hauck on Inside the Den and Hauck on the coaches show saying the same thing and coming up with the same old tropes. Riley is a bright spot , but there’s only so much lipstick you can put on a pig before it’s apparent it’s, well, still a pig.
Riley has become grating to me personally, there have been many cases between he and Hauck where it’s clear they had coordinated Q&As in order to prop up Hauck’s agenda. He seems to continually be drooling all over Hauck and tripping over himself to compliment him.

Colter, Kyle, and Schmidt pulled no punches. I imagine Brooks won’t either. The university is missing out big time by having such a self center egomaniac at the helm that refuses to allow the spotlight anywhere near any of the players. We’ll continue to suffer as long as he has a say in how things are ran. I hope there’s a plan for his departure after the season.
Seriously? Riley works for the department. The job of the athletic department is to promote the department, not slam it. Riley is not gonna say anything negative about Bobby on the record. Maybe he does behind closed doors, but absolutely no way will he say anything publicly bad about Riley. He'd get fired

Nor should he be expected to "ask tough questions" or to try to trip Hauck up. He is supposed to coordinate the interview with Hauck, and it isn't fair to hold that against him. Riley is a dude doing his job, and he seems to have a real passion for the Griz. If he is just faking that passion, then good for him and I'm glad we hired such a great actor. Lets keep Riley around for as long as possible, he does a really good job.

+1

Really enjoyed this podcast and was a first time listener to to it. Have known Kyle since the college days and he nailed it, hope he is on more.

The part where Schmidt asked who on this team would even play on his team is very telling….

Enjoyed his insight as well
