Lucas is the Missoulian’s new football beat writer. He’ll be joining us as we recap the week, talk Idaho, and all other things Griz.

As always - get at us with your questions for the pod!

Will you all be wearing toques tonight? Maybe have some back bacon and crullers on hand? Seriously, the section of show last week where we got to listen to you and Mike attack the jerkey was gold. It was completely a page out of the Great White North. I need some more Bob and Doug Mckenzie in my life right now.

Still can't believe you haven't been sponsored by a local brewery. Seriously, free beer, get on it.

Please talk a bit about Andrew's Snowbelt conference proposal. I am completely on board with this and it needs to happen. It just makes so much sense for everyone involved.

Take off, ya Hosers!

To piggy back the Snowbelt question … since college football has become the TV Markets of America theme and C-USA is looking at Kennesaw St. as they are in Atlanta, are the Montana and Dakota teams really that appealing? It seems it is not about the quality of your teams, it is about the eyeballs you bring for a TV contract. Thoughts?

Talk about this...should the Griz implement it:

How about some mid-season speculation about Big Sky championship/playoff contenders? Here's some info to consider.

Five BSC teams are currently unbeaten in conference play (UM, MSU, WSU, UI, and Sac. St.). MSU is 3-0, and the other 4 are 2-0. The conference records of these teams' opponents so far are UM - 1-4, MSU - 0-7, WSU - 0-4, Sac. St - 1-4, and UI - 2-4.

All these teams have completed their non-conference schedules. MSU has an off week coming; the others have had their off week. The combined records of their upcoming conference opponents are:

UM: 20-11 (3 home games - opponents records are 5-10, 3 away games - records are 15-1)
MSU: 15-12 (2 home games - 10-0, 3 away games - 5-12)
WSU: 19-14 (3 home - 10-6, 3 away - 9-8)
Sac. St: 17-13 (3 home - 9-6, 3 away - 8-7)
UI: 14-17 (3 home - 4-11, 3 away 10-6)

UM plays all of the other contenders.
WSU plays MSU, UM, and Sac. St (on consecutive weeks).
Sac plays UM, WSU, and UI
MSU plays WSU and UM
UI plays UM and Sac. St

Looks like MSU and Idaho have the easiest paths, and the Griz have the toughest.

From what I’ve seen, the Spuds’ QB McCoy is a solid player. Only two interceptions on the season (all in the first game against Wazzu) and he’s got a pretty high completion percentage. I think he will be a very good player and he’s only a freshmen. What do you think we need to do to contain him?

Also, what happened to the old segment “The Checkdown”? (maybe it was a different name) Y’all need to bring it back or have more over the top sound effects. Maybe a segment where Mike gets to b!tch about the topic of his choice 🤣

Has Lucas got the brief on how to handle Bobby as a media guy? He must never ask any informative questions only stroke his ego and never say anything negative. Hopefully he is excited to go into every press conference on pins and needles hoping not the piss the almighty god Bobby off.

JMU cracked the top 25 six weeks into their first season at the FBS level, and Marshall, App State, Coastal Carolina, and Boise State have all previously finished in the top 25 at the end of the season in the past, with Boise State doing it multiple times.

In the pods opinion, If the griz find themselves able to or forced to move up in the changing college landscape, do they find similar success as the aforementioned programs or do they fall into the UMass and University of Idaho realm?
