How incompetent are the powers to be at the Big Sky offices?

They are missing out on plenty of opportunity to better market Big Sky basketball.
Has anyone followed the programming on the ESPN channels since Thursday of this week?
It is filled with a lot of shitty programming in pretty good slots.

Move the damn conference tournament up a week to take advantage of this!!!
Seriously, a lot of women's softball, baseball, women's basketball, etc filling their programming slots. I don't expect the conference to be on ESPN, but give me a break!!!! The conference could certainly fill slots on ESPN2 and ESPNU!!!

Goes to show why the WCC has long passed by the Big Sky. That conference actually gets it!!!

How exactly do you make the regular season any shorter....they have already ruined it with the unbalanced schedule because they can not fit a balanced schedule in......

The answer, of course, is so simple and straightforward that it would eliminate both problems at once.

But the bsc brass will never admit to their colossal mistakes and make it happen.

what you fail to acknowledge is that the BSC brass can only act if a majority of the schools are in agreement....and for your info....all conferences are that way.....the brass can not just make such a move without the involvement of a majority.....thing the bigger conferences have to control the bottom feeders is money......conferences like the BSC don't have that....

Who is to say the majority would not agree with it? You, myself, nor anyone here know what the results would be. It was not to long ago when the WCC and the Big Sky were very close to one another in conference status. Now, they have far surpassed us. They have gone from a 1 bid conference to a 2, almost 3 team bid conference. It depends on the year.

Granted, the conference has ridden Gonzaga's coat tails to help it's cause. However, they were proactive in finding spots on ESPN for televised games, even some games not involving Gonzaga. Weber State and Montana both are good enough programs to be used to gradually help build the conference recognition.

I have no idea what the results will be. It is a shame that the conference takes very little action, and has no plans to have the balls to make things happen. I pray the new commissioner is more committed and proactive than Fullerton has been.

box, I fully and completely understand that the Presidents would have to vote to take the bsc back to a manageable and reasonable size by eliminating some dead weight. For what it's worth, though, I believe at least some universities would be in support of such a measure.

My point is that the bsc brass would never even suggest such a move, because it would be admitting how woefully wrong they were by accepting the schools they did, in the geographic areas they did. Those were errors of an enormous magnitude, and strong leaders would admit them, and then take whatever steps would be necessary to correct them.

It's a stretch to state, however, that the bsc does not have strong leadership.

The easiest path is for 8 schools to get together and leave the BSC.....I am not sure you can put a majority together to boot schools....who do you boot.....

The "Peter Principal" is a recognized principal in psychology that "you rise to the level of your incompetence" hence the leadership of the BSC.

Good Point, the tourney should be the best 8 teams, make it 3 days, and put it during the week so we don't have to compete with the Big Conferences. We could easily play Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday...Our chipper will always be televised, but it would be nice if we could get one, possibly both semi's on TV too..

Altitude used to televise the semis. But I guess the bsc has been far too busy coming up with genius marketing slogans such as "road to reno" to be able to reach out to them the last few years.
