I saw the play you are talking about, and saw several replays. I don't have a horse in that race and might be a bit more objective. It looked to me like the ball carrier got the ball to the line to gain and was then pulled backwards with a good hit and tackle. One replay angle showed the ball making the line to gain and another angle looked like it was short. At any rate there wasn't enough there to overturn the call on the field and your coaches probably saw that as well.

I call BS on your post. You are wrong, and you are biased. It was an incredible tackle, and the runner never had the ball in front of his body. The tackle caused the running to twist and go backwards. I saw no replay showing the ball close to the line of gain. I also had a perfect view of the ball from my seat, as did all of the guys around me, all of whom had played college football. I immediately saw the ref make the wrong spot, and started yelling. Refs often make the wrong spot on forward progress. They run to spot ahead of where the runner was tackled. This runner didn't get pushed backwards. He just got tackled in a way that he didn't get another inch after he was tackled. It was kind of weird, because the hit was low and not high. It caused the runner to stop immediately, twist and go down. He could have reached forward with the ball, but he didn't. He just twisted and went down, and slightly backwards.

The only good angle of replay would have been from the press box almost straight at the play.

I believe the call would have been overturned on replay.

I agree 100%. It never looked close to a first down live or on replay. Maybe I'm biased, but It seemed blatantly short to me, and I'll stand by that forever.
