Gee Confirms Kemp Off The Team

Kemp's three-year, 29 game cummulative statistics:

Rushing: 107 carries for 514 yards and 2 TDs
Passing: 16 for 30 with 2 ints, 218 yards and 2 TDs
Receiving: 27 receptions for 210 yards and 1 TD
Returns: 3 KOs for 25 yards

He was a generalist in a game for specialists. All in all, pretty replaceable.
 
Engstrom has wanted Kemp kicked off the team, or more, since early this year. He pressured Pflu and O'Day to do this, but they wouldn't.

Engstrom was involved in the UM decisions regarding Kemp/Tru late last October. The includes the decisions made in the days after the taser incident. He now wants to point fingers at others.

Kemp is a good kid. Hoopmaster's post is accurate. However, don't know what final straw was.

Engstrom is likely to be involved in more decisions that are going to hurt UM football and athletics. Stay tuned.
 
Are these guys really in college? Because they seem pretty stupid. JJ is (at least for now) expelled. Kemp is off the team. And a bunch of players are having a loud drunk party and pissing off the neighborhood. As I type.

It is summer, and at that age, every generation had fun. What is so bad, or out of the ordinary about that? Have fun boys, no drinking and driving, no drugs, and look out for one another.

Pretty good numbers when you consider his playing time. Kemp was not given much of a chance
Team player in my book.
 
Weird I seen on twitter that Kemp was suspended, not kicked off the team. This supposably came from Delaney.
 
It is the offseason. College kids will be college kids. IF, they were partying, I have no problem with it. Based on your recent posts, I have a feeling the partying posts are just a little one sided.

Go back to rooting for whatever team you root for.
 
However, Gee said Friday’s move was not related to the incident last October.

“No, not at all,” she said. “And just to protect Gerald I don’t want to say what it’s about. Just that it’s team rules.”

“It was not criminal related,” Gee added, “and it was not school related. I had that asked of me, too. It was purely a team violation.”

Well, we know it wasn't a crime or school violation.

Who knows what it could be. Could be that Kemp got into it with the coaches because he wants to be the starting QB, and they see it some other way.

Could be that he's just burned out, and did/said something really stupid.

He may just hate the way Delaney or Rossenbach run things now.

Sucks that he's not on the team anymore, but I don't see how he's getting screwed over as some people have suggested.

Even if JJ doesn't play this year, I didn't see Kemp as our starter, anyways. :twocents:

If I were the athlete Gerald Kemp is, and I am going into my SR year, I think I would want to know what my role is, to most help the team. What position do you want me focusing on, WR, RB, QB, or even safety? Where can I make the most impact? Gerald is told something like, we want to use in various roles. So he wants a better definition of various roles, and not given a straight answer. He speaks his mind a little more, things get a little heated. A coach comments, "By the way, you are not helping your cause, with twitter postings. Your SR class has agreed twitter is off limits. We need you to honor this too."

I see something like that being a possibility. After all the time, and effort he has put into being a GRIZ, and being the best athlete on the team, I can understand how frustrated he could be. I know, I would be very frustrated. His college career has not been anything like Hauck had recruited him for. It is a shame injuries, and coaching changes have gotten in the way.

My advise to Gerald is to accept whatever role the team has for you. A simple apology to the coaches, even if you were not wrong. Focus, on being the best damn player, and person you can. Get the most you can out of your SR year, then use your athleticism in some sort of pro career. Hell, if football does not work out for you, the basketball team could use another athlete.

None of this has to be easy for him. At least he has a valuable degree to fall back on. :thumb:
 
Maybe we're missing the boat on GK... Instead of being the QB, maybe we should have unleashed him on the QB. Anyone remember Severin?? Specialist Speed Rusher that could drop into coverage. :off:
 
After reading all of the different articles and accounts about Gerald Kemp, I'm not sure if he even exists now. :?:

I wish him luck in his future. Whatever happened, he always did whatever he could for the Griz on the field.
 
You you guys REALLY believe that the twitter rule (which they said only applies during the season) or a disagreement with the coaches over his role within the team would lead to "Indefinite Suspension", "Dismissal" and/or "Removal from the Roster"

Having known Mick Delaney for 50 some years, it COULD take less. A bad facial expression can be back talk, and he doesn't take back talk - ever. It was probably more, but not necessarily. He is setting the stage for fall camp. There is a new sheriff in town as someone else pointed out. The players don't have any driving privileges as they have the past couple of years.

Mick would have benched Dave Dickinson the morning of the national championship game if it suited him.
