UNI vs. Griz that game will tell us a lot how 2016 will go.

I actually disagree with that. Young team, on the road, 2nd game of the year. A loss there doesn't necessarily define the season. It could, but I don't think that's the game that'll tell us if this is a playoff team or not. I think back to the 2011 team that was a younger team (on offense at least) as well that found it's stride halfway through the season and after a rather embarrassing road loss @ Sac.

Beating UNI would go a long way toward building the confidence necessary to beat NAU & EWU on the road later on.
The Griz play badly on the road and there is not talent like Bailey and Smith in the BSC. I don't like our chances.

NIU is the UNDSU game of this season. On the road against a great running offense will be tough. Almost completely new NIU defense, so even w/o the Jones/Roberts/Hendersons of 2015, this offense could be competitive in Iowa if the QB play is good. Looks to me like it's up to how well Semore gets his kids ready to play.

Did UM's 1st game vs NDSU, 2015, tell us how that season would go?

Yes! I felt very confident that the Griz would make the playoffs after beating NDSU.
Well, that, but the defeat of NDSU said nothing re: our challenging NDSU for the championship. Fans have to see these pre-conference games as exhibition games, only. Final scores don't (or shouldn't) matter, any more than an intramural scrimmage or game. Coaches use (or should use) these "exhibition" games to evaluate players, not to win games.

Except they do matter....because you gain a win or loss against a program that goes toward making or missing the playoffs.

They do matter, however, I get what you are saying. NDSU's loss to us last year did not cost them their season, obviously. A loss in Iowa does not make or break Montana's season but it can give this team something to build on.

Strength of conference schedule.

So what games are you looking forward to the most this season?
Montana @ uni Griz have a huge challenge, will answer questions on where Griz stand.
Ndsu @ Iowa: Iowa is supposed to be for real and NDSU is the giant killer.
Msu @ Idaho: future conference mates, Idaho thinks they are big time, cats preseason champs
Ewu @ ndsu
Uni @ ewu
These are games I look forward to seeing!
How about you guys any others??

Loser of the Idaho vs Scats gets kicked out of the Big Sky and accepts a Frontier Conference invitation....

Not sure the weight of the result of that game will be clear right away. The outcome of the rest of MSU's and Idaho's season will dictate a good Win or Loss in that game. Vandals win in OT in a low scoring slugfest.

So give me some predictions for these games.
ndsu vs iowa
msu vs idaho
psu vs wash
ewu vs uni
ewu vs ndsu
ewu vs wash st
um vs uni

I agree with these with the exception of the NDSU/Iowa game which Iowa will win.

Crud. I agree with you. I was thinking Iowa as Northern Iowa.

I don't think UNDSU will beat Iowa. They're not playing at the Alerus Center.
I like Stick and NDSU, but Iowa is a tall order. They were one drive away from the playoffs last season. I'm predicting a comfortable win for Iowa.

Now looking forward to the N. Iowa game, as it is on espn3. At least according to this site:

http://www.lsufootball.net/tvschedule.htm

and also at N. Iowa schedule site:

Glad to see The Trey paying some attention to FCS games.

Well, MVFC has that deal with them.

I think RC's point wasn't so much the early season game, but rather the strength of the opponent. In that case, I tend to agree it could show how we've grown. To Brint's point, it won't define the season. #NDSU for example.
