Gameday Question

Well-known member
The last two weeks I have read nothing but how bad the gameday experience has become. Bad entrance, bad fans, bad attendance, bad monte, bad fan support, bad students, bad NEZ, bad video operators, bad play calling, bad playing....

Can someone tell me why you continually go to something that you have nothing positive to say about and only bitch and moan?

Because if you pay 60 bucks for a ticket and the only gameday experience you get is to see #37 acting like Clay Mathews after he tackles someone for a 2 yard loss then something needs to be changed......

Umm, I think he's asking WHY do you still go 420? As I've said many many many times, I've have never met anyone from the university who has the power to FORCE you to pay for tickets. No one has ever showed up at my house with a gun and forced me to buy a ticket to the game. SUU, I've asked the same thing for years now. Why do some people keep going if they are so miserable and hate it so much.

What's wrong with celebrating a great play?
I'm sorry but what needs to change is the fans thinking the players need to act like we think they should and start worrying about their own sorry asses supporting the team and not bailing on them with 5 or 6 minutes left to go in the game.
Griz nation was tested on Sat. and they failed miserably....

I wonder what the image/message would have been to the players, coaches and even NAU if at the end of the game the stadium was still full of fans supporting their team....?

THIS. Why go and be pissed, miserable, depressed, etc... for 3.5 hours and then bitch and moan about it for 3 days afterwords, only to do the exact same thing the next weekend? People obviously aren't happy, and sure don't seem to be entertained, so??????

It is a very simple decision.

1) Go to the game and be pissed, get blood pressure up above 300, rant and rave, make others around you miserable.

2) Do something else and be happy!

Unfortunately you have a good point....
Griz football blew past entertainment years ago....
It is religion around here.... And we all know religion gets people spinning in all sorts of directions..

"Dirty" had his way and Tripp has his...
One thing for sure is I hope they are so pissed after this loss it takes the whole team to another level. I just hope it's up and not down....

I was told on another thread that logic was not permitted around here, but... I can almost wade through some of the shit throwing contests around here but this:

"woe is me, fuck you, damn fans, it's UM's fault, damn players, fuck the coaches, the hot dog vender messed up my brat, I lost my ticket, the port-a-potty line was long" bullshit is for the dogs. Now I know why I can last about 2-5 weeks and then the trolls get the best of me.

If you are so unhappy don't go. It is a simple decision.

Good time! Fantastic tailgating and nice people. Oh yeah, there is a football game as well. The atmosphere is still like none other in college sports. The crowd is not as loud this year, thats because of objectivity. The play calling is a learning experience that one must learn to appreciate. Come to our tailgate when you enter the stadium ASHAMED. Enjoy cold beer and fireball and the real grizzly faithful!

Been to many many many games here in Missoula.

I just didn't understand why people go to the games when it makes them so angry and upset.

I go to the games because that is what we've done for the past 25-30 years -- and I wouldn't have it any other way. Sure, it's more fun when the Griz win than when they lose. Sure, the pre-game may have been more "exciting" 20 years ago, when it was being 'invented,' but perhaps we're just spoiled -- people who've never seen it before usually like it. Sure, the fans are louder some games than others; it's real easy to be screaming your head off playing App State or UNI during the play-offs ... not so much on a smoky afternoon against a team you expect (rightly or wrongly) to beat. Sure, way too many people (in my opinion) stay out too long at the tailgates during half time. All those things may be true, but we still plan our autumn around the Griz games -- have a ball catching up with the people around us who we see only during football season --and I'll be there until the day I die, win or lose, hot or cold, loud or quiet. I consider being a Griz football fan one of the true blessings in my life.

Geez. I must be weird. I go to watch the game, see friends in the tailgate area, and cheer for the team. I have as good of time now as I did 5, 10, 15 or 30 years ago.

I am guessing the reason more and more people are complaining is that there are fewer and fewer of us that remember REALLY celebrating a win, or how nice our stadium really is compared to what we could have right now.

No. The reason why we bitch is that the University has created it's own monster and detached the ownership feeling between the crowd and the Team. There is hardly any pump up music anymore to keep the fans on the opposing Team. There are more ads than Whats shown at a movie theatre. The drinking is so limited that fans run so they can have a drink and meet up with friends.
I still go, I cheer loud but it saddens me to see what the U has done to the fans and taken away a time when I would get goosebumps by the adrenaline they used to shoot at us.
