Luke Turner, a senior running back for Rice University, played his final football game for Rice last Saturday. Luke's emotional post-game press conference clip honoring his coach was posted by Rice on their website and picked up by ESPN. It went viral. As a result, Tom Rinaldi of College GameDay interviewed Luke and his college coach in Houston this week and traveled up to Gilmer, TX to interview Luke's dad, Matt Turner who coaches the Gilmer Buckeyes football team - who also won a playoff game last Friday. These interviews and the story will all be on GameDay this Saturday.
Luke is the nephew of my best friend of 42 years (we were 2 when we met :lol: ) and Matt is her youngest brother. I have followed Luke and watched every Rice game I could find. He is terrific young man from a great family, but this is a reminder that there are a whole lot of special young men who play this game and learn great life lessons along the way.
