Game vs Montana Tech

Started the game off fairly slow, the game was 16-10 including two steals turned into layups by Matthews. The Griz picked it up for the rest of the 1st half, went in at the break up 39-20.

The second half was UGLY. Apparently we were playing hockey in the second half because the line change was in full effect (worst coaching move in all of basketball by the way). Found out after the game that Coach told the team that after a squad allowed 6 points, a new 5 was coming in. I don't think it worked like he thought, because we still allowed 24 points I believe. Only scoring 23 along the way.

Criswell led scoring with 14, Seyfert played a nice game scoring 9. Davis didn't play too much, but the Tech guys appeared to be getting to him. A couple of 6'4" white guys blocked him. Matthews was the spark off the bench, but took a nasty shot the the face on his way to the hoop and left the game with a bloody nose. He never did return, but I don't think it was an injury of concern. Lynch made a couple of mistakes because he wasn't aggressive. He's got to take advantage of these opportunities. Turnovers against Tech do not look good. He did can a 3 from about 30' at the buzzer of the 1st half. Martin didn't look too good last night. I don't know if he was trying to get into the scoring column a little more, but he just didn't get into the flow of the game. Farr went one on one quite a bit, but he finished enough to warrant the plays.

A game Montana doesn't like to play I'm sure. In the middle of finals week and after playing a strong team in Missouri. Went pretty well all things considered. Don't pay attention to the 2nd half, because it was just a formality.

They looked kind of sluggish, especially in the second half I thought. Matthews played great the few minutes he was in. I think he played 7 minutes, had 6 points, 3 steals, 2 rebounds and a assist. Then he got whacked in the face. From what Krysko said on the radio last night it sounds like it may be a broken nose. Hopefully not... Anyway, I think that finals week had a lot to do with how the team played...that and I can see how it might be hard to get excited about playing against a NAIA team, especially during finals week.
