GAME DAY THREAD - Pokey

And our ball to start second half, exactly what was needed to blow the doors open. Go out and execute a good drive to start the second half and we’re in business. Gotta cover the spread

Lucas Johnson has a really good instinct for when to get out of the pocket to avoid the rush. He keeps his eyes down field and finds an open receiver. That time it led to a wide open receiver and a touchdown thankfully.

At one point ISU had 107 yards of offense and the Griz had 105. At the half ISU has 110 yards and the Griz have 215. all is right with the world.

Last four ISU drives:

-1
0
-6
0

Shoot, Liam Brown is down

Notice how the first person to go in to replace a starting OL is a fresh transplant from the defense from last season. That says all you need to know about our backup lineman. Not good.

I think Grimsrud has looked good. Hell, he had to pull on his second play from scrimmage and helped tremendously. He looks like he belongs, so far.

Now I predict about 35 straight from the Griz.

Well. We got 14 of em so far.

Breathing a little easier.

Yeah. That was the worst half of football Griz have played this season. We need to gameplan differently for sac. The quick pass game is this teams kryptonite

Great finish to half. 16-8 first downs. 215-110 TO. Johnson 11-17. Gronauer 8-18. Um is 4-6 on 3d downs. IS 2-10. 3 penalties to 6. 2 sacks by Griz. 4 receptions by Flowers. Running is averaging 5.5. IS 1.6.

We need to recruit more guys from Montana like him to play Oline. Watching MSU get great Oline play from guys in the 6’2”-6’3” 280-290 lb range shows you don’t necessarily need guys that are 6’6” 300 at this level to be successful

Johnson was 5/9 for 28 yards for a LONG time. Ended the half 11/17 for 94 yards. He picked up his game and the rest of the team appears to have woken from its slumber.

Agreed. Problem is most of those fellas are farm boys who want the engineering/ag degrees from state. I have two nephews down the Bitterroot that both went to MSU (one of which could have played O-line but didn’t want to pursue football after HS)….they’re ranchers for whom there weren’t many attractive options at UM.

Yeah, maybe we can convince all of them to major in poetry or basket weaving

Quite honestly, I don't see why moving JG to offense over the summer makes things "not good"

Obviously a great move. I’m speaking to what is currently in the cupboard. And it’s not like he is any sort of All-Star. I like the move personally.
