Future QB

What Griz receiver says: (Grizzly Sports Report, right after the SDSU game)

Reporter - "The offense has seen a lot of success in the past couple weeks. What is that attributed to, and just how much better are you guys getting week to week in this offense?"

Ellis Henderson - "I think we call it the Brady Effect. I think it's a term I coined a couple weeks ago. It's just having the confidence in him having him back there. I still think MaKenna is great, athletic QB. And Chad is great as well. But Brady just has this sense of confidence that you need within this offense to be able to call a play, audible-out. Just really have a calming effect, especially at the tempo we go. Having someone back there that you just feel good about is something that is I think under-appreciated a little bit."

Ummm, Brady is the guy next year. PERIOD.
BRADY is CLEARLY the best QB next year! It's not even close! The only reason he had a bad game against NDSU this weekend is because they were flat-out getting after him!
Hard to say why Cal Poly had this figured out, and then Liberty, and then the second half SDSU team, and then NDSU just "figured it out." You do realize that, of seven games played in, the opposing team offense either had Brady figured out in the majority of the games, or he self-destructed in the majority of those games? Or coaching, who knows what directions he was following.

It's certainly going to be a well-watched game-play tape next year among DC's. Do you think that will enhance or diminish Brady's effectiveness in future games?

I'm not trying to defend Brady, because he's obviously got some holes in his game (inability to be a run threat being the biggest), but let's be real: The six games HE played in and finished were arguably 5 of the six toughest teams (note I didn't say toughest defenses) we faced all year: NDSU (twice), Cal Poly, EWU, MSU, SDSU.

From what I saw, most the time the O was not clicking it was was due more to poor execution than play calling. It seemed coach had good game plans to attack the D but the players didn't get it done. Bad passes, mis-comunication, dropped balls, ineffective O line play, whatever.

And, as far as a Stitt not having a running game, I seem to remember him saying he has often had a 1000 yard back. Also, seem to remember seeing a big bruiser back blasting up the middle in C of Mines videos.

This....

Would that be a guy like Joey Counts? The guy who can't stay healthy? Every time Joey got to play, he had big gains or TD's right up the middle.

Griznation learned just how important an O line is to a team's success by what happened this year. I can't remember a recent year where the OL was so unreliable, so this was uncharted water for me. When the OL got it going in a game this year, the offense excelled. When they didn't, the offensive results were scary.

You've got a short memory then. This line is miles ahead of last year....just didn't have the talent BEHIND them like they did last year...

I just watched Jensen's highlight reel. Granted it's a "highlight reel", but he looks impressive. Big kid with a strong arm. What I noticed the most was his ability to scramble, roll out, and otherwise extend plays, while still being able to find open receivers down field. How many times did our QB do that this year? Would that have helped the O line be more affective with pass blocking?

I agree he can sling the rock, I was probably as impressed with how physical he was on defense as much as what he did on offense. Not scared to mix it up. Think he would have no problem lowering his head to get the extra yard needed for a first down.

Well I guess Pflug is not going to be it. [emoji4]

No apparently not. Wonder what happened there? People were really talking the guy up here. I hope Coach Stitt is looking hard for the next Griz #1. While Simis stepped up when needed, I don't think we saw the next #1 on the field this year. I'm not even convinced we saw next year's #1 on the field this year. Seems that if there's really a Stitt offense that we haven't seen yet, it requires QB mobility.

That's a very good point. The talent drop in the back field at qb and running back was huge.

I like Brady. However, every other game he couldn't hit my pickup at 25 yards. I trust in Stitt, drop down, freshman, returning starter, I don't care. This offense needs a perennial all-American for us to get to where we want to be.
