Not sure if its the offensive scheme or the QB play but there is a serious issue. Main concerns are way too many 1st down running plays but no fullback or tight ends. Seems to me if you are going to have a quick hit passing offense then pass 70% of the time on 1st down. However, the QB needs to be more mobile in this type of offense.

Griz need a QB who can understand the offense, read defenses, look off defenders, throw accurately, avoid turnovers, and run when necessary. Unfortunately Russell Wilson has used his eligibility up and is now with the Seahawks.

It is hard to find a QB good at all these things who may be available to the Griz. Hopefully Stitt can find a QB who can do some of these things.

Wow, really?! We can't bring in new recruits, or transfers that might be better? Gus clearly won the job in the spring and fall, but to suggest that we shouldn't have a legitimate competition because of last years camp is silly. Maybe after a year in the system, Phlug will be better. Or maybe Jensen will turn out to be a stud. If Gus is the best, he will win. If you think that I didn't think last years competition was legitimate, then I question your reading comprehension. A legitimate competition should take place every year.

He is bringing in a 6'7" string bean....maybe he likes really tall/skinny QBS that are zero threat of running

The thing that impressed me about him, his eyes are always down field. He can be scrambling for his life and know where everyone is on the field and find the wide open player.

I don't think you will see an upperclassmen FBS transfer....

Maybe, maybe not. But we should be open to the possibility. Didn't a senior, from Penn State transfer and play here (although sparingly) this season?

I'd be surprised if Chalich or Simis ever takes another snap for this team, in reality they should both move on to somewhere they can play.

It will probably be Brady's job to lose, but I wouldn't be surprised to see somebody else take over and it might not be Willy.

Brady played to his averages, with more interceptions than normal. For the guy touted on these threads just recently as having the superior "read" ability, I'm sorry, that was never apparent statistically, and it sure as hell was disproved today for anybody with anything but agendas. Even in a game as "complex" as football.

If there was any doubt, we now have an entire season for this QB, bookends as it were, as to how he performs as the QB chosen by this coach as the "one" that best understands and opens up the "playbook," as Stitt continually claims. Well, somebody is married to their "playbook" then because I don't see anything out there that recommends the playbook or the QB.

This game demonstrated one thing: Stitt is stubborn. It really didn't matter what, he was not going to put one of the season's most successful QBs, Makena Simis, into the game. There's something personal there and the fact that Makena had a great game NOT playing Stitt's "book" is simply not going to be repeated. And the 139 yds that Jones had and the 114 yards that Hendo had were never going to happen again under any other QB. Those two are simply misused when Brady is the QB. He can't consistently get the ball to them. And those interceptions -- that wasn't ND playing good defense; those were giveaways, from the "read" guy.

It was a great season, as usual, because the Griz are a great team. But, this team came into the playoffs far more experienced at this level than its coach. The credit goes to the players.

You do realize that making the right read and throwing a poor pass are 2 different things. Simis was not 3rd string and sitting on the bench because Stitt had a personal vendetta with him.
