Mayor is, of course, a closet Bobcat fan.
Naaa... just possess a siht-load less bias and a lot more common sense reality than most on here. I thought us good republicans were supposed to possess those traits Kem? ;)

Yah, I'm glad to hear how highly thought of this kid is but barring an injury or drastic performance issue etc. I don't expect to see JJ looking over his shoulder too much.

Just to put these stats int perspective... Jake Plummer ended up being a 2nd round draft talent.

In fairness, he went to Arizona for college ball. FCS do not get the recognition.

Not usually... but then there's sometimes an exception.

Simis doesn't have anywhere the talent as Jake Plummer. He is a very solid pickup for the Griz though. Has the potential to have a great career here.

That's in Arizona, though.

JJ's stats actually aren't that great when you look at them. Should be an interesting fall camp. Outside of the Weber game, JJ was pretty mediocre in the passing game in 2011.

I haven't seen either play live in high school. That statement is based off of watching the kid's tape and from what I heard from people who follow and coach football around Boise. There are a lot of fans of the kid who think BSU should have recruited him and he gets comparisons to some of the other very good QBs that have came out of Boise recently such as Tanner Mangum (BYU) and Taylor Kelly (ASU). Jake Plummer in terms of talent is on a different level. Simis had a very good senior year, but comparing him to a guy who is considered indisputably as the best QB to ever come out of Idaho, was Pac10 player of the year, and went on to a 10 year career with a Pro Bowl appearance is not a logical comparison.

Sounds like you're speaking in hindsight. Fact is before Plummer suited up for college ball, he was not Pac10 player of year, was not in the NFL, and had never played in a Pro Bowl. And at the time he did come out of high school, not everyone would agree he was the best to do so. Comment is better made 4 years from now. Plummer developed because of good coaches, a good system, and most of all an opportunity. To make those bold statements in hindsight is also not logical.

Would you have compared DD coming out of high school to Wild Bill Kelly? or maybe a more modern Marty Mornhinweg?

Not disagreeing with your logic, but if you talk to people who have been involved in Boise football going back to Plummer's days, Plummer was considered a phenom coming out of HS and the best QB that Boise has produced. I'm not trying to put a ceiling on Simis. Who knows what kind of career he'll have here. I don't like comparisons of any High School player to any All Timer. That was what was done earlier and that's what I had issue with. Too often on this site do fans designate recruits as the 2nd coming when they haven't proved anything at this level yet. The difference from HS to College ball is huge and I don't think many fans appreciate that.

Anyways, very happy we landed Simis. Always good to land a recruit that many consider an FBS level talent.
