From the OPSU site

NLGrizzFan - After your comment about Carroll, I read a similar one coming from a Montana Tech fan......and maybe Carroll could beat OPSU, but I doubt. I am sure they play good solid football at Carroll, and it would probably be a good, clean, competitive game.......but a quick glance at the team photo tells me the Aggies might be a little, make that a lot, faster than Carroll. Everyone has their story and a lot of these kids have been with D1 programs or missed D1 offers because of injuries, grades, or other reasons. The biggest problem they have had is mistakes and turnovers, especially fumbles, like a team of Tony Romo's. They need to fix that first.

Maybe, just maybe, the Aggie coach is planning on running more than they normally do to shave some time off the clock.....in an attempt to shorten the game and keep the UM score down some. That is just a thought. They normally run a fast-paced offense with the (eventual) goal of getting 90-100 plays offensive plays in a game, there not there yet even against D2 and NAIA schools since most of the players are very new to the system. If they come out and drain the play clock some, that would be a clue that is part of the plan.
That could be the key to keep the score down some as long as they can convert on 3rd down and keep rolling and not turn over the ball (obviously). Just gotta be careful on coverages when Jordan Johnson gets his hands on the ball tho. He's a pretty good QB and reads the field very well. Here's to a great game!!

I have heard a lot about JJ, and look forward to seeing him play. The Aggies do have some D1 kickbacks and D1 speed in the secondary. Hopefully they can keep up!

Thanks for all the welcome messages.
My kid was on that bus all day, and has sent me a few texts and even some photos of the scenery. It seems like they are enjoying the trip........coming out of the flatlands and seeing the mountains is a big deal.......and they get to take that road trip with 60 friends. They know what they are up against, and are more focused on improving and playing well than the final score. If they can accomplish a few good things and improve against a team like Montana, they should run the table against the rest of their D2/NAIA schedule. They are pumped about the opportunity to play the world's greatest game in a big venue, and all we get to do is sit our computers and talk about it. I wish I could be out there!

Aggie, you've been a welcome addition to the board. It can't be easy to come on here, see your team get dissed, and still be a good poster. Kudos to ya, sir. :thumb:

I know all about these boards and nobody here is hurting my feelings. You have every right to enjoy supporting your team and eGriz has got some great posters, I think I might come back and read what y'all have to say the week before the MSU game. I am impressed with the amount of activity for a FCS board....you don't find that in Texas, even the SHSU board is kind of slow. TexAgs (A&M) and Orangebloods(UT) is on a whole 'nother level.

That article from the OPSU site was written by the head coach's wife, who works as the SID. Coach Gaskamp is cool guy and knows his football. He was the starting center at UT the year Ricky Williams won the Heisman. He got to campus after spring ball last year and his first recruiting class got to campus in August. So, we are a very young team and it shows at times. Give Gaskamp a couple of years and the program will be a lot better. OPSU is a small school in a remote area. All the coaches and a lot of the faculty live on campus, and it has a good feel to it. Everybody has to start somewhere and the Oklahoma panhandle can be a good place to make that start.

I'm sorry if I sounded rude. That wasn't my intent. Carroll is a solid team, that's all I was implying. I really hope the best for these young men up here in Montana and I wish them the best of luck!! This would be an experience of a life time (well for me anyways) to play in Wa-Griz. I won't be at this game but wish I was. But again, I'm sorry if I sounded rude.

Funniest thread I've ever seen on any board was the On the UT board when the Univ of Texas Bookstore had the very ill-conceived idea of hiring a Chinese company to build statues of all the great UT athletes. Only problem was there were only like 3 models so everyone looked the same. Damn funny.

I was on the campus a few weeks ago. Very nice feel to the campus and the area. The people in this state are very close to what Montanans are, and I find we have much in common. I'm working in the Alva/Cherokee area in the oil/gas industry. If I have a gameday free, I may have to zoom over there one day and watch a game. For those in Missoula, the campus reminds me a bit of Western Montana-Dillon. And although Goodwell is small, Guymon is not that far away (thinking about 20 miles to the NE). It is a town closer in size to Dillon, and has a population of 11,000+

I wonder how far Ardmore is from Goodwell. Used to live there a while back.

Basically a drive from Missoula to Billings. I think Armore is south of OKC near the Texas border, while Goodwell is up in the Panhandle in the South Central part of it.

A few short years back Carroll beat the #2 DII team, Central Washington. The same Central Washington who came into Griz stadium and gave us a very good run for the money. CW has also beaten the current #3 FCS team, Montana State a few times. My bet is Carrol would beat OPSU.

I hope the Aggies have a great time and go home soundly defeated, without any injuries, and with memories of a football game they played at Montana - memories they will never forget.

Haha!! Ok, that's cool. I felt kinda bad cuz I wasn't tryin to run the Aggies down by sayin Carroll would beat them in the sense the an NAIA team would beat an FCS DII team. But all that aside, you're a pretty classy person!! I hope you come back to eGriz even after this game is played. There is quite a bit of news that is shared on here across the FCS. And (in my opinion) the more news, the better. So bring some news over to share with us as time goes on. :thumb:

Some may consider this an uneven match-up when judging by stats alone, but when you compare the determination, heart, and passion that each team brings; the Aggies can stand with the best of them.Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. in Missoula, Mont which will make for a 2 p.m. local start time. Aggie fans can tune into the game with live video coverage available at http://www.gogriz.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

I like it. No one can accuse them of not having heart.

GOLFFACE!!!

More power to you and your team! That's the attitude I like to see and is much like I feel when traveling to Oregon, Iowa or Tennessee - perhaps not real optimistic, but forever hopeful that we can be competitive. I have NEVER gone to a game thinking the GRIZ didn't have a chance. If I felt that way I probably wouldn't bother going. It should be the same way with Oklahoma Panhandle State. I wish a very positive experience to all of you!
