From a CCU fan

Congrats to CC and their fans. You have a solid team and good luck in the playoffs. It some cojones to overcome the cold, road trip, altitude, noise. Etc. CC pulled off what very few teams are able to. Win a playoff game in WaGriz.

well done my lord.....you survive to play another day.
as said already.....your team was well prepared and well disciplined and well COACHED.
wish we would put a spy on your qb.....our game adjustments are null and void.
as predictable as our offensive plays....that your defense covered very well today outside of the 1st quarter.
the espn announcer who was a coach said several times why did we not make any adjustments to contain your qb, soft coverage on 3 and long ie. pass play, over pursued and got caught behind the qb to give him running room and how you guys came with the blitz as a tool/game plan and we came with what we do everyweek day and day out.
we knew how mobile this qb would be and that you may some option plays, however, we stilled over pursued and created opportunities for your offense.

Hell of a comeback today by you guys. I knew at halftime it wasn't close to being over with. Your QB seemed to be off a little on his throws today. He was either undershooting or overshooting them by a few yards. I assume he wasn't like that all year.

I am curious what you guys thought about our QB and LT the RB etc. Good luck next year. Hopefully we can setup a home and home with you guys at some point.

How'd I like your offense ? They were awesome dude. I'd say after EWU the best we have seen this year. I thought we should have run more in the second quarter to keep them off the field. This Griz team is all about comebacks. I just wish the refs hadn't impacted things so much in the second half. Your staff was very very good at getting your guys ready for the weather. Whatever we say, this too freaking cold. Kept 10,000 fans home which sucked. We got outplayed today.

Great job, CC. Would love to develop the relationship with you we had with App State -- a home and home would be fun and an excuse to go to the beach every few years!

Good luck next week in ND!

Just thawing out after the game.

Congratulations to CCU on playing well under difficult conditions. I was impressed with your team's ability to shrug off the cold, pay attention to details, move the ball, and win the football game.

Alex Ross is a quick, crafty little devil who caused a lot of problems for the Griz, as did your big running back Taliaferro. Your CCU coaching staff is also far superior to our coaching staff.

If CCU is in need of a University President, we have one that is looking for new horizons. He does wonders for college football programs. CCU should look into this.

Good luck against NDSU. I'll be rooting for you.

Nice win by a solid team from Carolina.

Congrats, you handled our Griz, cold, travel, noise, etc well.

Hope you do well in Fargo, will watch and would like you to take the bison down! It will be a task!

Your coach puts me in mind of Bobby Hauk. No excuses like cold or noise
Do your job and get it done! You'll go far behind him. Good luck with NDSU
Well played game ! We'll be back like usual next year to contend in THE playoffs
And hope to see you there.

As for a home and home, that would be extremely great for FCS football!
I will be there.

This.

Well done & congrats, Coastal! :thumb:

Thanks for the congrats guys. I do have one question. I know some of you mentioned how your FG game wasn't the best. In the beginning of the game (1st half) you passed on 2 chances for FGs. Was the crosswind that much, or does the coach just not have any confidence in your kicker?

The 2nd part I believe.

Our coach believes in throwing long passes on 4th and short situations, and runs into the D line on 1st down. Considers field goal kicking to be old school.

The game of football hasn't caught on to the innovations coming from his 70 year old mind. We all feel fortunate to have such an innovative thinker as a coach. 8-)

Considering the lack of or confidence IN consistent kick game, 10-3 season is remarkable

Man lots of comments about JJ being off. I guess if my QB throws for 388 and 4 TDs while running for his life, taking hit after hit, and pressured 90 percent of his throws then I'd take that any day all day. Man we are spoiled.

JJ was okay but he was kind of inconsistent. Some of his throws were amazing and only had a window of a few inches (ie. Naccarato TD pass and Haynes out route) then others (especially deep routes) were either over or under thrown. Now, whether that was due to changing winds, cold affecting our WRs speed and throwing timing off, or just that CC's DBs were doing a good job of jamming at the line, I don't know. I still wouldn't have anyone else leading this offense, though.

After watching how bad the ball came off of Shaw's first couple of punts (Shaw is one of the best in FCS), I would guess that the cold was what determined the coaches not to kick (and I don't blame them). Yeah, if the Griz would have converted one of those 3 or so scoreless times the Griz were down there inside the 30 into points, who knows what could have happened. But they didn't.

To answer your initial question, I was one of the ones that was critical of your overall team based off the couple of games that I had seen. However, your team impressed me today. I knew that your offense was good but I was surprised by your secondary. Outside of your QB keeping composed and making plays with his feet, I would say they were the biggest factor today.

By the time your QB is a SR he might be getting some consideration for the Payton if he keeps improving. I was very impressed with him (especially being so young). Your RB was alright. I honestly don't think he is top 3 Payton worthy (based off what I've seen, of course) but he reminded me a little of Montana's Lex Hilliard who is in the NFL (FB for the Jets). With his size and subsequent speed, he should at least get a look to play Sundays.

Congrats on your win today and good luck in the rest of the playoffs. :thumb:

Yep, Jordan Johnson was a little off on several throws today. But I credit that to the fact that CC's coverage was spot on pretty much all day and there was pressure applied on most throws. Most knowledgeable football minds will tell you that consistent pressure, even if it doesn't always get home, will affect the quarterback's ability to read, react, and throw accurately.

With the consistent pressure Johnson was under, I think he actually had a really good game. Many of his completions were in very small windows. So I would say his missed throws were more a result of the consistent defensive acumen of CC rather than any off day by Johnson.
