Frisco Plans / Get Togethers

We are driving. Leaving early Thursday morning from the Mission Valley and driving to North Platte, NE on day 1. Day 2 we are staying in Oklahoma at a friends cousins place about a 3 hour drive from Frisco.

Getting up Saturday morning and driving to the Dallas/Frisco area and golfing at Tour18 Golf Course then heading to the Griz Fest and staying at a hotel (not sure where I didn’t book it).

Then get up Sunday morning and head to the tailgates and game and then make the return trip to Oklahoma after the game.

The plan is to drive back to Cheyenne Monday night and drive the rest of the way back Tuesday.

Truckers blood right here. Tour 18 is fun. There are some unbelievable houses around that course.

Flying out of Billings Saturday morning. Staying at the Drury which looks to be walking distance to the Griz Fest location. Staying until Tuesday. Going to enjoy the victory Monday with some Top Golf and shopping. Hoping to also hit up some good bbq.

Hutchins in Frisco is in my opinion the best BBQ in DFW. Ask most people and it will be top 3-4. Get there at least by Noon if you want the full options on menu. They run out sometimes. There will be a little line but it moves fast.

They also have their original location in McKinney about ten miles away that doesn’t get typically as slammed but it’s smaller and will have a line as well.

Avoid hard 8s. Every bison fan will tell you how awesome it is. Venue is cool but the bbq is very mediocre for Texas. It’s more chain style.

Cattleack BBQ further south in Addison/Dallas border is amazing as well but there out of operation are super wild and hard to nail down.

We’re neighbors! Leaving Polson early Tuesday- Sheridan, Denver, stops along the way, arrive Friday. Safe travels!

Have fun on the Denver to Dallas portion. New Mexico is cool but my god once you hit that Texas panhandle. You will realize why that’s where aliens abduct everyone. If you are going the New Mexico route from Denver you will pass by a dormant volcano so that’s cool. Done that drive many times

A question for those of you in the know. We are on the Great Falls charter and arrive Friday afternoon. We are staying at the Hilton Lincoln Center in Dallas.

It looks like the Addison restaurant district is only 3 miles from the hotel. Would you recommend going there Friday night or taking an Uber 17 miles to Frisco and hitting bars and restaurants around the stadium?

Addison has a ton of bars and restaurants. It’s a good option but you can honestly go a little further north and most of the action will be centered around the Frisco Plano border. From The Star in Frisco south to the Legacy West and Shops at Legacy area in Plano. That is where a majority of things will be taking place. Tons of bars and shopping. Griz fest is in that area at the Ball park. Let’s of stuff to do just 3 miles west in that area too in the colony like top Golf. TightEnds is a hotbed in that area too. Food Halls you name it.

There are restaurants around the stadium but mostly just chains. And there are also bars but they are more tame and won’t be a party if that’s what you’re looking for. Not much of a reason in my opinion to go up to the stadium area until game day.

The area where 121 meets DNT is the spot. And it’s really only a 10 min Uber ride up DNT from where you’re at if it’s not rush hour.

Not going ourselves for various unacceptable reasons, but if we were, seems now like a fun trip to head down to Houston on Monday to watch the Huskies teach Michigan a thing or two--anybody going to take that step?

All, the UMAA has a list of GRIZ Gathering sites on their website. All of these places should have a good collection of GRIZ fans.

Note that President Bodnar and the Alumni staff (and potentially Monte, the cheer squad and other dignitaries) will be at the Frisco Bar and Grill Friday night beginning at 5:00 pm.

GATHER WITH GRIZ IN FRISCO!

Badlands, any recommendations on a good Steak House in Frisco?

There is a Perry's and III Forks close and both very good but if you have a car (or Uber) and don't mind a bit of a drive south into Addison, Chamberlain's Steak and Chop house has always been my favorite... smoked prime rib is their specialty and its great!

Badlands, thanks for all the info. What is the parking situation like at the stadium? Expensive? Real limited?

Not a 100% sure on price but I believe we paid $25 to park last year... lots of parking available....

I live in Frisco, so a few recommendations. The new Eddie V’s at 121/Preston. Dee Lincoln’s is top notch and has a cigar bar attached next to it. You also have have Del Frisco’s, Bob’s, Fleming and Capital grille, all within 5 minutes of each other. Finding a high-end steak house that’s good food and value is not difficult. Hope you enjoy.

What are some of your plans for while you are in Frisco? Just curious as to where most Griz fans will be hanging out. We fly in from Anchorage on Thursday and are staying at the Springhill Suites Dallas Plano / Frisco.

Been researching activities and saw the Dallas Stars are playing Colorado Avalanche, on Friday night, might check that out.

Mine will be a quick solo trip. I get in Saturday evening, but I’m staying right next to the Griz Fest venue. Leaving on Monday, hopefully feeling great!

Got here yesterday afternoon. Mine will NEVER not be a solo trip again.

I second chamberlains. My father wife and I ate there last night. Plenty of Griz fans there. I eat there on my birthday every year. And the cigar lounge connected is great as well

There is a ton of parking around the stadium both on street and in the parking lots of businesses adjacent. There is also a parking garage and on street parking surrounding city hall. The entire area surrounding Toyota Stadium is commercial so it’s really just nothing but parking lots and businesses. A majority will be free within a 5 minute walk.

Currently in-route to DFW on an American Airlines plane from Bozeman that’s probably half full of Griz fans. Staying at the Tru by Hilton.
Cant wait to make some noise tomorrow!
Flying out Tuesday, going to find a nice downtown Dallas hotel to stay Monday night before the 6AM flight back to Bozo.

Had some choices, but this seemed like the best to bump.

Can't be happy with the outcome today, but it still capped an amazing season ... that 120 other teams would practically kill for. I'll leave it at that.

Beyond that, here's hoping those of you who made it down had a great experience. We saw that some were less than thrilled by the location, but the overall reactions seemed pretty upbeat.

So ... How about some good thoughts?

Edit: Also, hope you all have smooth sailing getting home.

Besides the outcome of the game, I think you will be hard pressed to find anyone that has anything bad to say about their experience here in Frisco.

The food, accommodations and atmosphere were top notch and I would advise anyone who has never experienced it to add it to their bucket list.
