Friday Stats for Griz Recruit Gus Chase:

TOUCHDOWN

Well-known member
Gus had 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Generals win on Friday night in Miles City over the Pioneer's which is a very good team. SC won the game by 12 with a score of 107 to 95. This win is huge for Gus and the Generals as it puts them right at the top of the North-Sub region as long as they don't screw up the rest of the way. SC is now 17 and 2 and will play Dawson CC in Glendive Saturday evening. I won't have those stats until Monday evening.

I dont want to do any bashing on Community College basketball. I went to Dawson for a while, and I'm sorry but the competition between them and Miles City was pathetic. They were trying to get the baseball players to play basketball. It was almost like a high school team. I think they only cut like 5 kids. So I'm not very impressed with the competition that Gus Chase is playing against. Divison 1 ball is a whole new world compared to what he is playing in now

Up until last week, Mile City was the 14th ranked Division 1 JC in the country. Things may have changed a mite since Grizo went to school. Our most recent Sheridan CC recruit (Kamarr Davis) handled D1 hoops fairly well. The Week 6 report is now available on the Region IX website. Gus is averaging 18.2 points and 6.9 rebounds as of the date of this report. He also is hitting on 61.6% of his FG attempts and 82.6% of his free throw attempts. :thumb:

I don't consider your statement as bashing but more of you don't know just what your talking about? Yes both Dawson and Miles City never have had real good teams over the years but you should get up to date as Miles City is a very good basketball team this year. They were 16-3 going into the game Firiday night and SC was darn fortune enough to win at there place and just hope the Generals don't let down when they play at Dawson today. Dawson has not done all that well this year but they can still be dangerous. And I am sure Gus is going to make a fine player for the Griz in the future and wish the hell Wyoming had given him a shot but that is your gain and our loss.

How many players from either Dawson or Miles CC has gone Division 1?? Your right I havent kept up with Miles City BBall. I had no idea at all they were that good now.

Both teams have changed there recuriting I guess sense you went to Dawson. They use to just take all Montana kids and you can't be in the national spotlight doing that. Not that Montana kids are not any good but there is not just that many players to go around that is going to put you in that spotlight. I don't know either if Dawson or Milses City has sent any players on to Div I but I do know we have here at Sheridan College and I can't say Gus will be able to maintain the scoring and rebounding he is doing at this level as your right it is going to be a whole new ball game for him to step up to that level but I think he will be okay and give the Griz som added punch to there game.

Kamarr Davis, Juco transfer from Sheridan....Virgil Mathews Juco transfer...Slim Milliens Juco transfer...noticing a trend? I have seen MCC play this year and they are VERY good. I find it is best that when I am not sure about something I don't talk about it. You might want to try this philosophy, or at the very least find some research that brings you up to date with Juco basketball.
