Friday night football notes

As for Roberts, I have been posting about him for 3 years now. He is definitely a BCS athlete. With his family ties to the GRIZ, what are the odds of us landing him? What does he pursue, football, baseball, or basketball?

I sat w/ his dad at the game. He told me Ben has had contact from Oregon St, Oregon, UM and others (obviously). Dad wants him to play FB but will let Ben do his own thing. OSU FB and Baseball coaches have been in touch.

He had a 40+ yard catch on a post pattern that he just ran away from the coverage. He was wide open on another post pattern that would have been 55-60 yards for a TD but the ball was thrown behind him. The kid is a STUD.

They play in Billings again in middle October--West I believe. I'll be there, he's worth the $6 ticket to get in.

I think baseball is probably the sport Ben Roberts will choose. I find it hard to believe that Ben's dad wants him to play football, as Rafael has been coaching baseball forever. After Sentinel lost out at the state basketball tourney last year, Rafael said "Good. Now Ben can focus on a real sport." Plus the Royals scouted Ben when he was 15 years old. I definitely think baseball is this kid's future.

Hellgate has 3 players I really like, but not sure what kind of looks, if any they are getting from colleges. Shawn Jensen, Brandon or Brendan Gragg, and Jessie Ginn (only a jr).

Jensen is a great student, hard worker, very strong, and converted from LB to Safety, which is smart on the coaches and his part. I am not sure of his speed though. He used to be rather fast for his age.

Gragg is fast, good hops, good size, very athletic, and hates to lose (wish his team were better). I am not too sure about his grades or where his interests are. I know he is a stud in track too. I wish he would have stuck with baseball. He definitely had a great chance playing college baseball. Apparently, he felt football and track were better for him though.

Ginn is already the size of many college players, and just naturally strong. This kid is a beast, even without working out. I really have no idea how his grades are, his work ethic, or anything. I am just going on his size, strength, and athletic for his size (solid basketball player). It is scary thinking how good he can get if he dedicates himself to working out and football.

I would appreciate some feedback on Hellgate, and these 3 players throughout this year. Anyone with some Hellgate insight, please post here.

Unfortunately, Jesse Ginn has neither the desire nor the work ethic to succeed at the next level. I watched the Hellgate-Bozeman game on TV and he took at least 10 plays off on defense. No heart on this kid whatsoever.

Sadly PCHS (Deer Lodge) is gonna struggle mightily this season with only 28 guys going out for football :(

Better than having 19 go out and finishing the season with 14. And that was 11-Man.
