So Griz played 2 games but Cats didn’t?No we opted out completely.

Sam Houston too....There have been exactly 4 teams with a legitimate chance to win the FCS National Championship in the last 15 years.
NDSU
SDSU
JMU
EWU
15 YEARS. That's it, the only arguments are rings.
Correct. Us, Sac State and I believe another team decided not to play at all.So Griz played 2 games but Cats didn’t?
Coach Vigen did not inherit a mess when he took over in 2021--Choda, despite his charming personality, had already righted the Shi##ty Kitties and the SK program was in decent shape by the end of Choda's reign when Coach V took over the SK's.
When Coach Hauck re-took the reins in 2018, he inherited a mess--the GRIZ Caddy had been wrecked and badly needed an overhaul, a soft team with hardly any O linemen, and it took Coach Hauck until 2021 to right the ship !!!
Coach, Triple H ( Hard-Headed Hauck) is not perfect--we could all see that this year with the dumb two-quarterback rotation by " feel," and the 3-3-5 gimmick defense featuring more line movement than the Navy/Marine Corps Blue Angels employ during an air-show flight demonstration in their F-18 Super Hornets, which will return to Billings, Summer, 2026 !!! ( NDSU QB Cam Miller said two years ago after The Bisontrounced us in the second half of our playoff game in Fargo that NDSU knew if they kept running the ball between the tackles, they would find some huge holes sooner or later due to all of these unorthodox stunts, stems, and twists, and boy, did they !!! )
Still, Coach Hauck runs a tight ship deserves an A-/B+ since his return. While he and his staff need to make some significant changes, the sky isn't falling, and we will be just fine and improving in 2025-27 !!!
Assumed Cats had played 2 games too. Nice weather in Mesa this week. My Bozeman brother just moved into his new place here this week. Thx.Correct. Us, Sac State and I believe another team decided not to play at all.
I just asked a question. There was no semantics in the question at all. How did the poster do his calculation? What's wrong with asking a question. You are welcome to have your other discussion, but that's not what I have been discussing. And, measured by the last 2 seasons, MSU has not outperformed Hauck 2.0 yet. MSU will have to win national championship to have clearly outperformed the Griz in those 2 seasons. Winning the semis would only get them close. Don't teams lose a majority of their starters in many years? Yes, I agree that D will have few remaining starters from the 2024 season.cut the semantics. MSU has out performed Hauck 2.0 both in head to head games, and playoff runs. This time frame also included a staff changeover at MSU so is not due to 1 coach from MSU. I hate it as much as any griz fan but facts are facts and 2.0 is not a dominant program in the FCS, BSC or even the state of Montana and has had enough time to have entire teams of his recruits and is currently trying to rebuild a team that has lost a majority of their starters and two deep after a disappointing season.
The 3-3-5 is very similar to the 4-2-5 that the cats run. You guys call a player a rush end, the griz just call him an edge LB. The personnel depends on the down and distance. It's the rotational depth that makes the difference. The 3-3-5 is a great defense but you need a great 0 or 1A tech and good LB side to side speed.^ This. The 3/3/5 D works when you have 11 dudes. Without the dudes, it gets exposed against a good O.
What D doesn't work with 11 Dudes? Is it easier to recruit to the 3-3-5 than a traditional D?
The Griz 3-3-5 is super reliant on dominant NT play, which didn’t happen this season. It also creates gaps with some of the unusual stunts, which is a liability especially without elite LB speed, as you mentioned. The 3-3-5 is very similar to the 4-2-5 that the cats run. Are the semifinals this weekend? I get confused with these 24 team playoffs.Wow, you aren't the sharpest tack in the pack. Are you thinking a meteor, or the super volcano might blow in the next 4 days? spin it, like the "Crews had no tackles" spin.....
Cats weren't in the semis in the 2020-21 spring season. So, do you only count years when you get to the semis? Is that how you count the years? Are the semifinals this weekend? I get confused with these 24 team playoffs.
Some powerhouses must be able to really pad their years with playoff wins by fitting into that #16 to #24 slot and beating patsies at home.
#9-#16 seeds get the first round at home, vs. the #17-#24 seeds. Are the semifinals this weekend? I get confused with these 24 team playoffs.

Thank you SJ. When it's clicking it's a beast, but it seems hard to get it right. Just my ten cents. The 3-3-5 is very similar to the 4-2-5 that the cats run. Lets forget about this 5 year comparison. Covid year is too complicated for you!Cats weren't in the semis in the 2020-21 spring season. So, do you only count years when you get to the semis? Is that how you count the years?
Sure, but that’s not the main discussion I was having, ie comparing Griz and Cats over past 5 years. Of course, Cats are ahead over past 5 years. Ahead this year too, but unless they win the championship, they are not ahead over last 2 years. My discussions have been more with where have the Griz gotten over more recent years when Hauck has had more time, UM isn’t mediocre, and where UM has compared to all FCS team in recent years.Lets forget about this 5 year comparison. Covid year is too complicated for you!
I'm counting the Cats in the semifinals in 2024. You didn't. "They're not there yet." That's the point a few (I think) have been trying to make! Is it 2024? Are the semifinals this Saturday? Is MSU playing?
They've made the semis 3 times (2024, 2022, 2021) since covid. I believe the Griz have made them once (2023) since covid.
Is 3>1 or do you have some high level analysis to help us understand it's really not?
The Griz are mediocre in a water-downed FCS.Sure, but that’s not the main discussion I was having, ie comparing Griz and Cats over past 5 years. Of course, Cats are ahead over past 5 years. That last sentence reads like a big time attorney "billable hour" explaining how 3 isn't >1!Sure, but that’s not the main discussion I was having, ie comparing Griz and Cats over past 5 years.
