NEW ORLEANS - A lawsuit filed Friday by a former St. Louis Rams player and others seeks millions of dollars in damages from the alleged taping of Rams practices by the New England Patriots before the 2002 Super Bowl.

The Patriots won the game 20-17 in the Superdome.
The $100 million suit, filed on behalf of former Rams player Willie Gary in U.S. District Court in New Orleans, names the Patriots, team owner Robert Kraft and head coach Bill Belichick.

NEW YORK (AP) -- The lawyer for former New England Patriots employee Matt Walsh said his client is willing to turn over videotapes he made for the team if the NFL guarantees Walsh protection from lawsuits or other legal action.

Attorney Michael Levy said that to date, the NFL's initial proposals are not sufficient protection for Walsh, who is said to have taped the St. Louis Rams' walkthrough practice the day before they played the Patriots in the 2002 Super Bowl. The Patriots won 20-17.

“At one point we had a good drive going against the Patriots,” said one Lion who doesn’t want his name involved in this mess, but was willing to talk about it. “Mike Martz really had ‘em going. They were getting fouled up, lining up wrong, we were moving the ball. Then boom, the headset from the sidelines to the coaches’ booth goes out.
“Next possession we were moving the ball again and the same thing happened. You know it only takes two or three plays to mess up a drive.”

Matt Millen, the Lions’ GM, says he was talking to another team’s head coach at the league meetings. He started telling him the story.
“Yeah, I know,” the coach said. “Headset went out. It happened to me in Foxboro, too.”
The Redskins game was close until at a critical juncture (early 2nd period) of the game, the Redskins headsets went out in Foxboro. Sound familiar? It happened to Green Bay Philly, Lions, Bengals, in the past two seasons, at fairly critical junctures in the game, all of a sudden they lost headset communication.

It also happened to the Jaguars—they lost their coach-to-quarterback communication for the entire first half. Coach Jack Del Rio later said the headsets “mysteriously malfunctioned.” The Patriots cheat, cheat and cheat some more.

Old news. Goodell already said that he's looked into it and Walsh doesn't have anything incriminating against the Pats.

And the Pats having control over the headsets at the Super Bowl? Give me a break.
