Those with really long memories will remember Norm Kampschor from Sidney who played in the late 50's. Also played briefly in the NY Yankees farm system. Died over the weekend in Denver.

Good Family, and Good Neighbors.

I remember the fun games we played in their backyard. Of course Norm, and his Son John loved to throw the baseball...Fun times up at Kings Point.

I think Norm might have showed his next door neighbors Kid a pitch , or two. ;)

Here's a very entertaining article . Gotta love the Authors Bias....Lots of old Griz names.. Noted that Norm was the last GrizQB in a winning era before the Cats got it rolling.http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=7&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CEIQFjAG&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cutbankpioneerpress.com%2Fcut_bank_pioneer_press%2Fsports%2Farticle_6abe895f-a57c-5c3f-8542-1a4cfc13e44d.html&ei=XI_FU8uLJMKdyASvsYGABg&usg=AFQjCNHBdwRIkLBlfETQ-U6r3ub-iwY6ig&bvm=bv.70810081,d.aWw" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Kampschorr (sp) was from Glendive, led the Red Devils to Class A 1953 title vs Butte Central in his last high school football game. Sidney's senior quarterback that year was Loren (Laddie) Sax. In 1953, Miles City returned two first half kickoffs for TDs before running a play from scrimmage and led 19-14 at half-- the first time Glendive had trailed at home at halftime in who knows how long. Coach Forrest Wilson cranked 'em up at halftime. Final score 49-19. I know because I was there.

Pretty much a legend in Glendive. Have had lots of older guys talk about what an athlete he was. Met him a few times. Seemed like a gentelman. RIP
