Former Griz player selected in D-League draft
Former University of Montana basketball standout Anthony Johnson was selected by the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the second round of the NBA Development League draft on Thursday.
Johnson led the Grizzlies to the NCAA tournament two seasons ago, scoring 42 points in the Big Sky tournament title game against Weber State. The guard played professionally in Cyprus most recently.
Johnson, who has been living in Tacoma, Wash., was the 22nd player taken overall. Training camp begins next week and the Mad Ants will open their season on Nov. 25.
Former Montana State standout Bobby Howard of Great Falls was selected in the seventh round by the Reno Bighorns.
