Forget the Past. What's ahead?

Since it’s pointless to bitch about the past -- “woulda, coulda, shoulda” -- I thought it would be worthwhile to look at what’s ahead and compare the contenders ahead of the Griz.

UM plays teams with a combined record of 15-17 (Sac, USD, WSU, MSU). Only one has a winning record (and that’s MSU … where you tend to throw out the season record. 8-) ) But it does not help that three of the four games are on the road.

EWU, currently tied for the Big Sky lead with MSU, also only plays one team with a winning record, which -- again is MSU (ISU, MSU, CP, PSU). Overall, their future opponents have a combined record of 16-16, and they play two at home and two on the road. Advantage: EWU.

The kitties have things a bit tougher. They also play two at home and two on the road, but the combined opponent record is 19-14, and three of their four opponents have winning records (NoCol, EWU, SUU, UM). Disadvantage: MSU.

Sac State, 3-1 in the BSC, has a situation much like EWU and the Griz: Two at home, two on the road, with a combined record of 16-17, and only one with a winning record (UM, CP, PSU, UC-D). Advantage: Sac State.

NAU (6-2), (4-1 BSC) has the easiest remaining track. Only one opponent (SUU) has a winning record -- although they do play them on the road. But the combined opponent record is 9-16 (UND, NoCol, SUU) and the other games besides SUU are at home. Advantage: NAU.

Good breakdown Ida. Nobody mentions it but the Griz don't control their own destiny for a BSC title. A lot of favorable things would have to happen for the Griz to win the BSC.

UM isn't going to win the Big Sky title. NAU, EWU or MSU will win it.

Yep. I have not worked out all the combinations -- too many games for that. But I do not, off-hand, see any way the Griz can overcome having two conference losses already.

Montana holds its destiny to reach the playoffs. Make that happen and let's do some damage in the playoffs! :thumb:
