Pretty sure Jerome left his heart in Missoula.

Certainly sounds that way.

And stayed 20 years in Flagstaff just cuz???

That’s an ignorant comment. How many people leave Montana for careers in other states, but desire to either move back to or retire in Montana? I spent the better part of a decade living out of state, but my heart never left Montana and I came back.

I have friends and coworkers that all made their way back to Montana after graduating from UM and moving out of state. I have other friends in town this week for the holiday that would love to move back here, but they have taken career opportunities that aren’t available in Montana, so they choose to follow that path.

Division 1 head coaching jobs are exclusive positions. Sometimes you go where the job is regardless of where you’d prefer to live. That’s especially true in a state like Montana where certain career opportunities are few and far between.

We are all speculating on what Jerome wants to do or where he wants to be, but based on the article it’s clear that he has a soft spot for UM and Missoula.

My daughter and son-in-law, both with engineering degrees from Tech, left Montana in the mid-2000s to get their careers started and make some money. A year ago in September they joyfully returned to Missoula, willingly taking salary cuts because they knew they wanted to be back in Montana and raise their family here.
