I briefly checked out a Bronco's practice tonight. It was only shorts and pads, no tackling. Nonetheless here is what I seen.

I intently watched Orton, Quinn, and Tebow. Up until 11 on 11, I really did not notice much difference, other than Orton has great touch, and Quinn has a strong arm, but seen later why he is falling short of expectations so far in his career. All of them looked good 7 on 7. 11 on 11 though, you could see why Orton has the nod, he makes good decisions, gets the offense in the right plays, and throws a very catchable ball. Quinn appears to have the most arm strength in all the drills, but when it came to 11 on 11, he looked real tentative and needs work on pocket presence. Tebow can make all the throws, and looks much smoother than he did when he was drafted. I can tell he has been putting in his time on mechanics. He has good pocket presence, and with some more improvement in mechanicsj will have improved arm strength. He forced a few balls, but also in turn threw 3 impressive balls with no room for error. He was the only QB that made and completed those throws. He sometimes had the ball to low in the pocket which caused a hitch in his windup, so he might be prone to a few fumbles or sacks. I was impressed with Tebow the little I seen of him, he throws a better ball than I thought he would.

The Broncos are extremely beaten up, nonetheless I was pleasantly surprised with the time the 1st team OL gave Orton. Then again, that could be more the result of losing Dumberville (sp?). The pass rush was next to nonexistent, close to dead without him. Pass defense for the most part was great, causing coverage sacks (touch). LBs also looked disciplined in pass coverage. Due to beat up RB's there really was not any running to judge.

A few other rookies looked very good and will be huge contributors this year. Olsen and Beatles (sp?) were very good at pass protection already (was that due to the lack of pass rush though?) Colquitt, the punter gets alot of height and is already very good at pinning it deep. I did not see outstanding length though, then again they might be asking him to concentrate hang time.

The best for last, Bronco fans be happy, very happy. Demaryus (sp?) is physically intimidating (looks like a DE or TE), he is a brick house with more speed than Brandon Marshall. For not having to run many patterns in college, he ran some real nice posts and out and ups tonight. He had an amazing leaping catch in double coverage in redzone 7 on 7's. He constantly got open and Orton threw it up a few times for grabs. 3 times he outmuscled and outjumped the defenders. He had a couple 30 plus yard receptions, one going over 2 guys on the sideline with both feet inbounds. The highlight of the night as scrimmage was winding down was Thomas verses Bailey for a handful of plays. It turned out 50/50. One time he beat Bailey on a nice 15 yard in, another 5 to 7 hard slant, and one deep that fell incomplete. Another play he was running a 10 to 12 yard out, reversed direction on a dime, Bailey was on the sideline already going for a pick, Thomas was 7 yard back toward the middle of the field. He literally faked him out of his jock. Orton hit him right on the numbers with no help defense whatsoever. Go figure after dominating all practice he dropped the pass. Based on physical skills alone, Thomas looks like a future probowler, and all the QBs looks his way often. Rejoice Bronco fans, 1st impression, Thomas is the real deal. We shall see if this is the norm for him or I just happened to catch him at his best.

As a side note Eddie Royal, Stokely, and number 81 (TE, cannot remember his name) looked very good too. Broncos need to find a pass rush and running backs. Lendale White got dinged up some in the early practice today, so their top 3 rbs are out a few days to a few weeks. Hope you Bronco fans like this. :thumb:
