For those of you who envy Boise State

There was so little interest in the Boise State Basketball team camp they cancelled it. What does that tell you about Boise State. They think so highly of themself that they think they can leave all the other sports behind while the football team runs off to the Big East? Guess what, not many conferences are interested in having the rest of their programs in their conference. shocker

Boise States day in the sun in football is about over. They will be nothing more than an Idaho or Fresno St in the college football world within the next three years.

And we are sooooo much better than that

I don't agree with you on that Hammer. Boise has a lot of money (something Idaho doesn't have), great facilities, a tremendous coach, strong community support, is a great place to live and they have plenty of notoriety. Their recruiting has been good so in my mind they will continue to be very successful.

Where did Hammer say we are better than that. He simply pointed out the fact that when all the shuffling is said and done, Boise likely will not be seated at the Adult table. They will be with the little kids at the card table with the folding chairs. May not happen in 3 years, but it will happen.

I went to the Boise camp around 10 years ago. Wasn't much back then either. Rocky and the Griz had much better camps.

Agreed. I think as long as Peterson is their coach there, they will be in fine shape. Maybe they'll never be at the adult table, so to speak, but they should be in the top 2-3 mid-major football programs.

I thought this was a BB thread, but all I hear is how Boise's day in the sun in football is over, which may or may not be true, and I honestly couldn't care less. What does that have to do with BB? Many successful bb programs do great with little or no fb success. See Gonzaga & Georgetown (or Duke) for example. Boise has an amazing basketball facility. It is one of the best in the Pacific NW and regularly hosts NCAA tourneys, so we still have much to envy, if one is prone to envy-fever. B-ball camps make little $ for the program. It's usually the coaches that need the extra $. This info IS surprising, but not exactly something to get worked up about. How many current Griz B-ballers actually attended a Griz camp? 1 or 2? I have no idea to be honest, but our camp is obviously not what the Griz rely on for recruiting, and I am sure Boise is the same way. Not many legit D-1 players are from the state of Idaho or Montana and that is who attends these kinds of camps, not the Will Cherry's of the world, who end up as Griz after much recruiting.

Pretty obvious from my perspective, though I admire their getting into the big boy mix and having some success. In fact in those games I'm rooting for BSU because they don't get the respect they deserve for building a program that can on occaison beat a big dog.

The die is cast, in a few years Peterson will be in the NFL because he IS a really good coach and BSU will be back competing with us. Not with the giants of college football...is it fair, nope, it is what it is.

I agree. I'm betting they will not see the Top 15 again for many years.

I agree with you guys, but for the fact that they're in the big least. I think they will be competitive enough to hang on a bit longer just based on caliber of competition. They certainly won't make the "playoff" anytime soon. South Florida and Louisville will be the 2 best teams in the conference this year. What's that tell ya? I do think that keeps them afloat for a few more years...then they poop out!

I might have missed it, but I don't recall Boise State being in the top 15 of any national basketball poll. I can remember Idaho being there.

Hey, I was not the poster who started discussing BSU football here.

Boise State will dominate the Big East next year and will be a Top 15 program. The Big East is pitiful, but for some reason has kept its stature as a BCS level conference. Boise State has also been getting stronger and stronger recruiting classes and has pumped in a TON of money into the football program. That and they have one of the very best football coaches in the country. They aren't going anywhere.

This is coming from a guy who has never liked BSU and has a wife who wanted to vomit after the Fiesta Bowl a few years ago...

Sort of like I went to the boxing match, and hockey game broke out.

I went to the basketball forum and......well, its obivous.

i'm sorry if i don't get it, but what's up with all the hating on bsu other than possibly alot of jealously from a small group of you led by hammer and grizbacker1?
