I like the attention and effort Emory Hunt tries to bring to the FCS, but sometimes he seems to swing and miss. As in this video:

Here is what Colter had to say about it, which summarizes my thoughts exactly. Plus Colter has a much better pulse on the Big Sky:

"Pretty darn good but…

Jordan West is not a pro prospect yet. He might not even start at QB for Eastern Washington this fall. He was benched for Riley Hennessey last fall and Hennessey and Gabe Gudsrud took most of the first team reps during spring drills. It will be an open competition well into the season.

North Dakota and Eastern Washington do not have the best defensive lines in the league. Southern Utah (with the return of Robert Torgeson from injury), Portland State, Montana and Cal Poly all have better defensive lines than either UND or EWU.

North Dakota does not have the best secondary in the conference. Weber State has at least two potential NFL guys on the back end in Josh Burton and Taron Johnson. Montana will have three former Pac 12 players in their secondary. Portland State has the best cornerback (Xavier Coleman) and one of the best safeties (Beau Duronslet). Cole Reyes is a great player for UND but they still have question marks at cornerback.

Matt Troxel is not Idaho State’s offensive coordinator. He’s the assistant head coach for the offense. Sheldon Cross, the quarterbacks coach, is the primary play caller but Mike Kramer does not have an official OC after Don Bailey’s departure before last season.

Southern Utah won’t fall as far as most people think.

Khaleel Jenkins will not start at quarterback for Cal Poly. Dano Graves is the starter.

Northern Colorado, while continuing to improve, will not finish ahead of Southern Utah, Cal Poly or Montana State.

Other than that, well done."

Yeah EWU's defensive line sure did scare offenses last year...

Hunt lists pretty clearly to the starboard side of the country. If there weren't teams in the MVC, there might no be any coverage west of the Mississippi @ all. The value this stuff brings is a more polite & researched version of "I wish I was wrong", etc. Anyone hear if Phil Steele is planning on an FCS publication for the upcoming season?

I know, am writing this while my fishing charter us headed back to port.
