...five card stud...

again.. you have little faith in our guys if you think the motivation of our team was determined by 1 play call.

Wait wtf people are still bitching about fourth downs from the game? Jesus I hate this place...

Listen sure if you're trying to win the game and you wanna play it by the book you go for the field goal.

Guess what? We were playing the best team the griz has ever played. We were never going to win that game so why not go for it on fourth down? It gives your offense more chances at executing against a great team. Who gives a rats ass if we lose by 60 or 53? The field goals don't change the game and the fact that people are still bitching about it is down right pathetic and they need to grow up
The point is not the end result. As stated in the original post, and either missed or ignored by you, at 21-10 and having just scored on a drive, the players stay inspired against an unbeatable foe for a few more series. I saw very little inspired play after that 4th down play was stuffed.

If you hate the place so much, don't let the door hit you on the way out.
I like Eriul's post, but I agree with Kem. The offense really needed a score, any score. It is too bad that the JLM score was nullified, and it is unfortunate that the FG wasn't kicked. I seem to remember that Previous play-up games against ranked BCS schools (Tennessee, Oregon, Iowa for instance) saw where the Griz were able to score offensive touchdowns, and it helped team confidence.

Or, Kem, this could be turned around on you. If you hate Stitt and the current state of the program so much, don't let the door hit. you on the way out. Jeez, Eriul is a good poster and good fan. Don't think she deserves that kind grief for that one. Why makes comments like that? No big deal; just a thought.

My view is that UM was never going to win the game. UM had converted some 3d/4th downs. Why not go big, and see what happens. Who wants or needs a FG against a team like UW. I can't imagine that not converting on the 4th down play, in this particular game, had any negative impact on the team's attitude. A TD at that time would have had a huge positive impact. When there is nothing to lose, go big or go home.
Far be it from me to stick up for payer rep, he can rub me wrong but he has forgotten more about football than the vast majority of the people on this forum have ever known. I'm also no fan of Coach Stitt. He is completely over his head as a coach at this level. But being aggressive in the play calling was not the problem in this game or any of the others he's coached.
