The facts are, he became the head coach this year as coach Stitt, Barnum is 7-1 Stitt is 4-4 Barnum inherited a team that has don't nothing for years, Stitt inherited a team that went two deep into the playoffs, headed by an interim coach brought out of retirement..
Talk about view of the world, look at the view of football, Stitt not getting it done, and that on him.
Bob Stitt is dealing with having to play a 3rd string quarterback after his 1st and 2nd string QBs went down with injuries. Mick Delaney had Jordan Johnson at QB. I bet that if Delaney had to use a 3rd string QB last year the Griz would have had a losing record. I also bet that if Stitt had the luxury of having Jordan Johnson, a QB who would fit this offensive system perfectly, the Griz would be looking at a winning season with 2 or 3 losses only.
People probably don't realize how good JJ made us the last two years. One of the smartest QBs to ever wear a Montana jersey who single-handedly could spark the offense. He was good enough to overcome and mostly mask last year's team's glaring flaws.
Mostly, we're soft. They played out of their minds against NDSU, but ever since then have just regressed back into the soft team that's always showed up on the road or against other physical teams in the last three years.
We have a ton of talent at WR and LB.
Everywhere else is either average or even subpar (OL, for sure) compared to the rest of the Big Sky.
This is clearly the fault of the last group of coaches. The player development around here has gone south ever since Bobby left, but especially since Delaney took over, and the sanctions certainly haven't helped anything.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see at least 10 or even more players get cut and replaced or leave in the offseason.
A move which couldn't come too soon.
