Fire Stitt or Haslam or both?

All this fire Stitt, fire Haslam,.... discussion is meaningless while the originator/director of the tragedy remains.
Agreed, start at the top. Change of leadership is badly needed, Engstrom is running the school into the ground. In the grand scheme of things, the enrollment situation is way more important than football but has significant impact on athletics of course. Yes, it's panic time, regents!
Here's the rub. Studies have shown that successful football teams result in increased enrollment. Had we NOT had a successful team the past six years overall, the enrollment declines would likely have been worse. Now that UM put on a Stitt-show this year, and Engstrom is still flailing and enrollment declines have been accelerating ... watch out below!

Wins and losses are not even on the list in regards to evaluating enrollment in this current situation.
Programs, Degrees, Teaching Staff, Student Costs, Employment upon Graduation, Montana Job Market, Too many
overlapping programs at college levels, are only a few topics to be reconciled before there is an increase.

I wrote this back in January of this year:

"Offense wins games. Defense wins championships. Griz will never win a championship with Stitt as HC. Best scenario for the Griz would be not to make the playoffs for the next 2 yrs and hire Gregorak back as HC. Worst case would be to make the playoffs and lose the first or second round. That way they can justify keeping Stitt. If the Griz would've made Gregorak HC and hired Stitt as OC, they'd be playing in Frisco 3 out of the next 5 yrs minimum"

Got flamed for it a little bit. Was told have fun rooting for your new team the Bobcats. I will always root for the Griz except when they're playing my Bison. I stand by these words and STITT needs to go.
I started following the Griz back when they played NDSU in 2003. I loved how the Griz played Smash Mouth football. That is gone now. I was lucky enough to live in Montana for about 10 years and able to attend a few games in Wa-Griz. It's a shame that one of the best most intimidating stadiums in the college football world now belongs to one of the least intimidating teams . Stitt is going to hurt the Griz program for a long time even after he's gone. It's time to stop the bleeding and get a Bobby Hauck type coach back in there.

Sadly I am inclined to agree with you

Haslam should be rated on the overall performance of UM athletics not just football. If many other sports teams are struggling, then maybe a move should be made.

Well....men's basketball has started 0-4 women's lost today and barely beat 2 NAIA schools, but his gamble on Stitt is all his baby

I agree with you on Haslam Stitt, but the Lady Griz get a pass. They are without their 2 leading scorers and only seniors for the season.

He didn't say he would be. What is it with your obsession with Ty Gregorak on every thread?
I responded to Tojo's post you senile ol' bastard. What is your obsession with me on every thread?
Probably arises from your infantile habit, established last year, of trolling every thread I commented on, to offer off-topic insults. Now, you randomly do the same thing with Ty Gregorak. Reap what you sow.

Yeah, memory is the first to go, resulting in an angry and resentful dementia. You are well on your way. You top the list now for posters that just randomly wander from thread to thread inserting off-topic remarks, insulting various posters, attacking Ty Gregorak, and doing it all about 20 times a day.

I responded to a post made by Tojo, where he brought up TG, and you started to troll me. Tojo even agreed with me.

the arrival of 75's groupies has commenced

It was a long time ago, but the last coach that lost to UNC and MSU in the same year ultimately got fired. Is that the direction we are heading in?

UM probably wouldn't fire stitt because it would have to pay the final year of his 3 year contract. The school is hemorrhaging cash. Buying off employees is an avoidable expense.

Boosters would have to step up. But I'm not really sure that Haslam has the courage to even begin to make it happen. He seems to be getting a free pass.
Haslam is a gamble Engstrom needs to pay off. Kent was handed the AD job with little scrutiny if he fails, then so does pretty much everything Royce has attempted with athletics.

Haslam wasn't "handed" the AD job. There were well over 100 applicants for the position. There was a selection committee made up of over 20 professionals, the vast majority of whom were not University employees (those who were were largely from athletics, other head coaches, trainers, etc). Haslam emerged as the overwhelming favorite from the committee.

But what's more, anyone who would suggest firing him has completely lost his mind. You can certainly question the Stitt hire, but everything else he has touched has turned to gold (quite literally and figuratively when you consider the donations for major projects he's acquired).

We will eventually lose Haslam as our AD. But it won't be because he's fired. It'll be because he's snatched up by a P5 conference program.

Haslam had competition, but he also had the inside track, had insiders like Sundberg pushing and lobbying for him, and knew Engstom. Don't think his women's volleyball coach turned out to be a good hire. The Washington's donation fell into his lap initially. We'll see what the removal of the name of the field costs in terms of hard feelings and important donors backing away in the future.
