Final scrimmage report

JJ played very, very sparingly, but looked good when in there. Rominger and Lebsock are playing at a high level. Lebsock will likely play equal time with BT and MH. Rominger did have 2 picks. It was right in front me and and the back judge was at a bad angle. Coach was correct to overrule the ref. ;) Defense line and secondary played a lot better today...I was nervous after last Saturday, but both will be just fine. The blitzing was also more intense today and the linebackers played well. I am very excited about this team!

The refs made the right call on the non-interception. Ball hit the turf first. The new safety coach, who was standing even with the ball, also thought the refs were right.

Brint. I didn't see any mention of Jordan Canada, was he playing or did he miss the scrimmage altogether? Thanks for the report, I appreciate these more than you know!

Pretty sparingly just a few carries, Delaney treats his feature RBs the same way he did when Hauck was head coach, just a few touches and not much more, same for Nguyen, and really I think Moore had just 5 or 6 touches.

Thank you Sir!

I believe this year, Jordan Canada will rush for over 1000 yds... Keeping him from injury to his weak ankles is a smart idea.

I don't see him getting 1000 overall considering he'll split carries with Peter and Dan... addtionally unless something changes or credits are made up wasn't he rumored to be one of the guys that'll miss 4 games due to not passing enough credits in the fall?

It was rumored (and only rumored) that Canada and at least one other player face the 4-game suspension for not passing enough credits, but the rules allow them to make up credits during the summer to get back on the NCAA mandated track, so hopefully, if the rumor is true, he will be cracking the books this summer to fend off that suspension.

The "non-interception" by Rominger (would have been his second of the day if it was one) was on the KPAX news last night. I will have to check it out in slow motion. I still say Rominger and Lebsock are playing at a very high level...great to have that "quality" depth at safety.

I am thinking the GRIZ put Harris back there for some wildcat, to get some reps for wildcat personnel. We have great personnel for wildcat packages. If not for injury, Kemp would likely be getting those snaps, being he has some experience in it already, and McKinney is still young. Rather than bag it while Kemp recovers, get someone who is a rough facsimile of Kemp, for everyone to have some experience in it, which will carry over to the fall drills.

Brint, or anyone, watching camp/scrimmages, were they running stuff you can realistically see Gerald Kemp run? If so, I think it is great they broke out some of the package. :thumb:

I didn't see it with GK but because when I saw him out there he was a QB and Jordan was suspended, then JJ comes back but Kemp gets hurt - winds up sitting the whole rest of spring ball.

However I do think that if they're going to run some sort of wildcat/spread/pistol come fall camp we'll see Kemp running it.

I agree. I have been wanting a wildgriz formation with Kemp for the last couple years. The options are endless and I think Rosie knows it. Gonna be fun to watch this fall.

Canada would could be great this year. If he has his academics taken care of.

you seem to have a lynch mob mentality when it comes to academics in canada. did you have to go to japan because the canucks rejected you as an english teacher in quebec?? i thought so.
