Final Griz Scrimmage

Hypothetically speaking, if the offense is as bad as many have stated, how good of a read can one really get on the defense?

Or it could be that the Raider is an eternal pessimist and his "sky is falling" outlook will be proven wrong. If I were a betting man I would bet more in line with PR than Raider on this one after also having watched the scrimmage. No doubt the Griz have a lot of work to do before they are ready to play a game. My only significant concern is with the OL. If they can get five guys with some mental and physical toughness to man the trenches and fight until the last whistle the Griz should be in good shape. I predict 3 losses this year based on what I've seen so far.

lol

Defense looked good. They usually do in pre-fall scrimmages. We can't run the ball. That's a concern. Our receivers without Henderson/Jones aren't ready to compete yet. Concern.

More than anything, I saw more of the lackadaisical crap that follows all of Delaney's teams. False starts, drops, lack of focus, below average intensity. Looked like everyone was just going through the motions.
For example, TraVon Van. The guy is being moved to WR, is having some issue picking up the position and is currently nursing some injury right now. But not once did I see him get coached up, nor did he talk to any receivers. Just kind of dicked off at the the end of the bench.

Frustrating.

Not much confidence on this board regarding the football team. Guess we'll see but I thought this team would be pretty good. With closed practices all that can come out of things is guess work. From what I can tell we have three primary injuries(Henderson, Poole, and Schmaing) and we are getting Schmaing back. We need someone to step up and play left tackle and someone to become a primary playmaker(Jones maybe). Delaneys big problem is he loves to run the ball. The last scrimmage didn't bode well for his philosophy. This could real interesting real fast. Hope our motto doesn't become "run Jordy run."

Friend of mine said that what he saw there made him think of the 2012 team with just improved QB. I hope he is wrong. I really don't want another losing season.

Objectively speaking, this cancellation can only mean things are really, really bad.

Objectively speaking, cancellation of the scrimmage means little or nothing.

Delaney sad they already knew what players could do and could use the time for better things. I suppose they may have also wanted to avoid injuries and allow people to heal up. I believe the last scrimmage may have been cancelled last year.

You obviously understand the game. I'm more concerned about the schedule than the team, although there's no need for any other key players to be unhealthy.

I hear we've also cancelled the first four games of the season. Starting off 0-4... but I still think we can make the playoffs.

I am assuming you mean forfeit and not cancel...

Probably something else Royce screwed up

I've also cancelled my tailgate parties and gave my season tickets to a homeless man wearing a tattered MSU "1984 national champions" shirt
