Fife in the portal

So? This also doesn't provide any proof as to why the coaches made their decision.
Seems pretty clear to myself and others they want AhYat to be the guy by how they treated him and Fife this season and there was a clear bias towards AhYat. Its literally the only thing that makes sense to explain their actions/mismanagement this season despite the data. Not my problem if that upsets you.

It doesn't, but if you look at Fife's play the last 4 weeks, well, it wasn't very good. Not difficult to see why they might play Ah Yat. Favoritism is far from the only explanation, but you be you.

It explains keeping AhYat in the game yesterday despite multiple picks and 3 and outs, struggling to move the ball and scoring 0 points against Portland State, etc.

This maybe feels like a big deal because of how the season went for UM, but my guess is that the staff always expected Fife to transfer after one season in MSO, even if it was a huge success.

KAY was always the future for them, for better or worse.
And this should serve as a big flashing red beacon for any potential QB in the portal that actually has options.

This is an interesting take. I’ve disagreed with you in the past but I have no reason to believe this couldn’t be accurate.
I did see sideline shots where it appeared Fife was acting like he did not belong. Do you think that was because of AH YAT . AH YAT was the anointed one so when that happens how do you fit in and be liked ? Fife was an outsider trying to fit in where he was not going to be accepted ? He said in the beginning he was here to be the starter. When he was not given that opportunity he was upset and cared it with him.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t think that Fife really was that much of a better QB than Ah Yat. Even if Fife got more playing time, I don’t think it changes the outcome of this season. I didn’t see much consistency. The games where he did play full games, he was either on, or very off. His ball security was also lacking as well. So I guess I just find it funny how everyone is so upset about him going into the portal when he wasn’t that much of an upgrade from Ah Yat. 🤷‍♂️
Riddle me this: How could EITHER QB develop any kind of “consistency” when they were both getting jerked around left and right? Honestly, I don’t think we saw the best of either of them this year because their playing time seemed to be so fucking random. I get “being ready to play”, but Christ on a crutch the mind games Bobby insisted on playing this year were like nothing I’d ever seen before.

But, he got his wish. Fife is gone, the keys have been handed to Ah Yat, and we’ll see another 8-4, 7-5 season next year unless there are dramatic upgrades in multiple areas (including foremost: coaching/coaches).

He played better then AhYat has all season
Incorrect, but I get it, you have a narrative and you will stick with it no matter what. Fife might had better moments, but he was far from being a much better QB. Fife was not good the last 4 weeks, and if he had been better the week previous, he would have played at SDSU. Fife made as many poor plays and questionable decisions as Ah Yat. That doesn't equate better.

Conveniently ignoring the statistical data proving that the offense performed better when he was under center. Considering its a "narrative" backed up by that data, input from multiple people more knowledgeable then I am and how things shook out ill stick to it, it's much better then juat screeching "nuh uh you're wrong". And again not saying Fife was a world beater, but he was definitely better then AhYat.

Do we think Vidlak has even close to similar numbers if he’s playing against Big Sky defenses all year? I don’t personally.
Not knocking the Griz, because their system obviously didn't mesh with him, but what if he was at Eastern?

My dig about him suddenly becoming a Payton candidate was childish, but it does show Bobby has had good QBs, they just unfortunately weren't what he needed.

That's the disappointing point to everyone. Why can't we seem to find a good QB? McDowell was third string, but he fit what this offense needed. No one expected him to be the answer when the season started. How is that?

So if Fife isn't a world beater, then why be so outraged and upset that he didn't play and is leaving? And I stand by that Fife was not good the last 4 weeks, so you might as well see what the younger player can do.

Fife'd numbers were much worse the last couple weeks, but how were Ah Yat's? He didn't show he should've replaced Fife. Once teams started forcing us to win via passing, the offense took a nose dive.
