Ferris State Football playing for National Championship (NCAA Division II)

Kent will continue to try to get a DI game, but it will be difficult. As 1122 says, we ain’t giving up a home game to make it happen. And 99% of our fan base would shit a brick if we did.

For those who support staying at the fcs level, get ready for a whoooolllllle lot more of this type of game. Simple facts.

Well this fan ain’t spending a couple thousand to come to Missoula for a Ferris State game, so it’s six of one, half dozen of the other.

A quick search shows Abilene Christian has open dates next year with September 16 available.
Go Griz!
If that’s the case, then you should reach out to Haslam and let him know. We need to get rid of that game.

Oh, and a hot take here: I think we lose the Ferris State game if it’s played.
I feel like it’d be more appropriate to make predictions like that after we see what happens throughout the off-season. It’s way too early to make a prediction like that.

So AZ is complaining about the game not being worth attending because Ferris is D2 and then predicts a Griz loss.

That’s exactly what I’m doing. :thumb:

I guess my question is why does it matter if they play a D2 if the Griz will be so bad that getting enough wins for the playoffs isn't possible? I think you are using the D2 excuse to cover up your bigger reason.

You mean my prediction that the Griz will regress further? Are you a psychiatrist or did you just sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night?

Edit: then again, the Griz have an easier schedule (on paper) next year, so they’ll probably go 8-3, 5-3 in conference, finish 4th, and people like PR will beat their chests about RTD and DOLA and a quarterfinals “run” in the playoffs.

I just suggest you don't play games and come right out and admit you are off the bandwagon, your fair-weather fandom has diminished, because you predict that the Griz will just suck. AZ only supports winners. AZ, what college team has "earned" your new allegiance?

I’ll answer that as I sit here in my Griz shirt, with my Griz flag flying on the flagpole, and having sent my Christmas list full of Griz stuff to my wife a few moments ago……you sound like PR now. Predicting mediocrity doesn’t make me a bad fan. Just realistic. You chastised me earlier this season for believing Bobby’s hype about this team. Well, I won’t make that mistake again. I’m going to set the bar so low they can’t HELP but outperform it. Reverse psychology. Get it, Mr. Psychologist?

AZ can't take a joke. But seriously, it is pretty fun that you went straight from the baby pool to the deep end.

In case you want to watch that National Championship game, it's this Saturday Dec 17 on ESPNU at 11:30 AM

In regards to the Griz rescheduling a better Sept 16th 2023 option... Cal Poly as a non confrence match up (bye week for them), they would have to drop thier late season pillowfight with Pioneer league San Deigo; is a possibility.

Schools are not going to fuck over other schools on their schedule because Griz fans are mad we have to play a D2.

Schools will get out of contracts if they can make more money for their school. Cal Poly isn't going to drop a home game against San Diego to go on the road however. There are things that can still be done for next season in regards to the Division II on the schedule. The Griz can still pay the cancellation fee to Ferris State which I believe they SHOULD do. How hard are they willing to work though, to bring in an FCS (pay that new school) or travel on the road to play a FBS money game on that date in September? I think they should bring in another FCS and pay the fee to Ferris State. Someone should get that exact amount from Kent. My opinion is the game should have never been scheduled in the first place and the administration should have put time and effort into another FCS program for that date in 2023.

I can’t take a joke? Must I put sarcasm font on EVERYTHING? :ugeek:

Ferris State is MASSIVE. And young. Both sides of the ball. They return several starters on the O and D lines next year. 24 RETURNING O-linemen. When was the last time we even had 24 on the roster? Watching their game against West Florida right now and they are having their way with them. They avenged their only loss of the season to Grand Valley State in the playoffs. This team ain’t gonna be a pushover, even for a good Griz team.

Oh, and one other little bit of irony: They’re taking on Bob Stitt’s old team, Colorado School of Mines, for the D-2 Championship this weekend….
