Feb. Bracket Buster

so the Griz get a 11-9 Hawaii team with an RPI of 213....... :?

Yeah, thanks so much for the leg-up, ESPN....

My hunch is that the conversation went something like this:

"Okay, we got Hawaii and Montana still on the board. They're both 'way the eff over there' so let's match 'em up. Okay, moving on...."

Do people really expect something exciting for UM in the Bracketbuster? This is exactly the type of game everyone should have seen coming.

Really?? A match-up with a team with an RPI 100 points below us? I was expecting something a little more beneficial than that, frankly. Was I expecting to get Nevada? No. But a team with an RPI of around 90 would have been reasonable.

Outside of the TV games, you should never expect anything reasonable out of the Bracketbuster

I think the coach and the players are happy with this matchup. Next year will be the Griz year to shine and they will do it in Honolulu..maybe, as Tinks said, in a major holiday tourney. UM doesn't seem to go to any preseason tourneys...at any rate, it is a chance to get a rare out of conference win for UM....

It is kind of weird to be matched up with a team 100 rpi points below you...

What's even stranger is the Cats got a team with a higher RPI ranking than the Griz for the bracket buster (Cal State Fullerton).

Hopefully this does result in the Griz being in a tourney next year in Hawaii.

On the coach's show last night, Tinks said that Hawaii is trying to move the game to the season following next (wonder why??!). I guess they have that option.
