As might be expected after a full season, most (six out of eight) of the favorites won last Saturday. Of course, many felt the Griz were not really the underdog (even though that's what the rankings showed). However, not too many, so far as I can tell, thought that The Citadel could go on the road and beat #10 Coastal Carolina ... but they did. (BTW, during the broadcast, the announcers did mention that this was the last year that CC would be eligible for the FCS playoffs.)

Anyway, it is again pretty easy to decide what games to use. There are only eight, and every one of them counts. As usual, I used the STATS ranking to select the underdog. Fortunately, each matchup has at least one ranked team, so I did not have to go to the NCAA power ranking numbers.

Under-dog on left, two selections allowed. (And you can change your votes later, if you change your mind.)

Interesting number two in the voting: I realize that Northern Iowa is on a role ... but PSU has got to be higher than a kite. I see from one article that they have not been in the playoffs since 2000. Now they are not only in, but they got the recognition of a seed. Expect them to come out smokin'. And, yes, they could come out too high and piss right down their legs, but still ...

Interesting: Either two "homers," or major optimists, are picking Western Illinois to upset Illinois State. I know, the old saw is "it's hard to beat the same team twice in one year." But I-State clobbered W-Illi 48-28 in their first meeting, grinding it out with over 300 years rushing offense. (That almost tripled what the Leatherneck got.)
