Not a terrible weekend to look for upsets, but not a great one either. We do have three ranked-vs-ranked matchups, but one of those is in the Big Sky. Again, we have a lot of ranked teams playing opponents with losing, and sometimes awful, records. Example: #13 Villanova has a home game with Long Island University (the “Sharks,” but think “Nurse” not “Great White” ) LIU was a power at D-II but have yet to win a D-I game, even in the feeble Northeastern Conference.

For a final choice, I finally went with Abilene Christian and its 5-5 record. They are at home, and they lost by only a point on the road at ranked Central Arkansas.

The usual rules.

The Official eGriz Poll has SDSU at #6, and UNI at #8, so the "upset" guess is pretty much a no-brainer.
It'll be interesting how many more votes that matchup gets versus the others in this poll.

Yep. But unlike the Big Sky matchups, I couldn't very well leave it out, could I?

I guessing that it will stay in the 45-50% range. Since everyone gets two choices, the rest of the votes will likely be more interesting in terms of who expects what.

South Dakota St exposes N Iowa for the pretender they are. Result, N Iowa moves up to #3 after losing and the Griz beating Weber because as stated throughout the season the pollsters love them some N Iowa.

McNeese knocks Nicholls from the top 25.

Back in to the range this morning (48% UNI gets upset). For a brief time, Wofford over Furman (one of my picks, BTW) was tied at the top, but not any more.

SDSU (UNI is overrated) and Yale (deflating loss last week for Princeton)
Would not surprise me to to see SDSU absolutely pound UNI. The Panthers may well be (are, probably) over-rated, but they are a "good" team.

But the J-Rabbits have got to be pissed at losing at home, even if it was to a ranked team. I think they come out with their hair on fire. If they can hang onto the f-in' ball (their problem against I-State), they should win easily.

Interesting point about Yale-Princeton. Not one of my picks, but you could be right-on about Princeton. All they have to play for is second place. Dartmouth should be a lock for the championship, playing pitiful Cornell (2-6) and Brown (1-7) the rest of the way.

Getting close folks!

Plenty of time for more picks. Nobody wants to take a flyer on Robert Morris? Gee, they only lost by 6 to D-II Kentucky State.

Got one so far: #21 Wofford over #9 Furman. Not so hot on my other pick.

Those you who predicted a Princeton let-down and loss were off a bit: They got blown out, 51-14. The surprise -- was not on the poll -- was Cornell going into Dartmouth and pulling off the upset. Not sure how that works in the Ivy standings.

At the moment, SDSU is beating UNI, but there's lots of time left.

Three of the eight poll choices did turn out to be upsets. And the two top vote-getters were among them: Furman and UNI going down. While four of you picked Yale over Princeton, I doubt that many expected the beat-down that happened.
