FCS Top 10 guess

I sorta think there is a different take between those that watched the game in person and those who watched it on TV. I was at the game and I, and all of those around me, was not impressed with any part of the Griz game. If the same Griz team had shown up at EWU, a game I also attended, the Griz would have lost by 50 points. Speltz's column was spot on: 1) don't blame injuries ... all teams have injuries at this point in time, and 2) let's hope Humphreys' injury is not as serious as it might be.

We played like shit vs a shit team. We should drop
We played like shit and still won by 17 despite being down 6 starters on defense and 3 starters on offense. Be mindful of the situation! This is why I hate the polls. These guys don’t watch the games and truly don’t understand what went down yesterday. You don’t drop a team for winning a game by 17 despite how bad they played.
True dat! Most pollsters don't have (or seem to take) the time to follow a play-by-play account of a game, so they have to find a summary somewhere. Headlines about the game were generally along the lines of: "Montana Prevails Against Dixie After Sluggish Start." That's not going to hurt when the final score is a respectable 31-14.

Beyond that, they can only look at the box score and stats. And that's not a bad thing for the Griz in this case, starting with fact that Dixie didn't score until the 4th quarter ... "garbage time" in the minds of most. Beyond that, the Griz QB ended up 20 of 30 passing (a damn good 67%) for 241 yards. They had a 100-yard rusher and piled up nearly 200 total yards on the ground. Dixie got some yards through the air but were stuffed on the ground. On paper, all that hardly looks like the travesty so many seem to think is was. And that's what most pollsters have to go on!

yup lets home it is not a serious injury, but if it keeps him out 4-8 weeks not sure he will be sharp so lets hope KB is excelling by then.

Did you just delete your post saying you heard it was an injury that takes 6-8 weeks but could be back in 4? What’s the injury?

I think it's funny you guys are talking up a win against Dixie State.
So do I.
Yes, but ... What else is there to talk about? It's a little early to start talking about the next opponent, although that will start soon. Since hashing over the game itself is like chewing used gum, it's much more interesting to think about how the result will affect the Griz's next ranking. Admittedly, it doesn't matter that much at this stage of the season, but this week -- with all the "upsets" -- is an interesting case.

I’m not gonna blame it on injuries, I’m gonna blame it on an illness that knocked out 6+ guys. Dude we were down 9 starters yesterday. Was it uninspiring? Yes, but you have to keep the bigger picture in mind. We had a freshmen QB making his first start, all kinds of guys out sick (who should be back next week), guys that were injured, and a week full of distractions not knowing who was gonna play and who wasn’t. Chill the hell out! This game was a wash, it’s not indicative of what kind of team we have, and we’re gonna be fine next week with more bodies.
