FCS STATS Poll Guesses (Sept 12)

The polls can be even crazier than usual this time of year, but this is another old “tradition” I thought I’d get restarted.

Guess, Team, [Previous Rank]
1 Sam Houston [1]
2 South Dakota State [2]
3 James Madison [3]
4 Montana [4]
5 North Dakota State [5]
6 Delaware [6]
7 Eastern Washington [7]
8 Southern Illinois [8]
9 Weber State [10]
10 North Dakota [9]
11 Jacksonville State [16]
12 Montana State [11]
13 Villanova [12]
14 SE Louisiana [13]
15 UC Davis [14]
16 ETSU [15]
17 Austin Peay [17]
18 VMI [18]
19 Missouri State [23]
20 Monmouth [20]
21 Northern Iowa [21]
22 Kennesaw St [22]
23 Central Ark. [19]
24 Richmond [25]
25 Chattanooga [NR]

NR Holy Cross [24]

The top ten remained about the same, except I thought North Dakota might slip a spot because of their big loss to a so-so Utah State team. That may be wishful thinking, just to move Weber State up.

The big change is a jump for Jacksonville State after their road upset of Florida State. They could move up even more, but I’m guessing the fluky end of the game makes five spots seem about right.

For this early effort, I simply swapped positions between Central Arkansas and Missouri State.

When you’re low in the list, you cannot afford to lose a game, especially one you’re supposed to win. So, Holy Cross will almost certainly be gone. Of the Others receiving votes, Chattanooga had a respectable win, so I moved them up. (Murray State hung in there with Cincinnati for a while, but then got buried.)

I know you they don’t move teams down after a win, but I think the Grizzlies are number one. They’ve had the toughest schedule so far. If not for preseason polls, they’d be there!

:thumb: +1. But you can’t move a team down when they’re taking care of business. If Montana takes care of business though the rankings won’t matter to the selection committee. An undefeated UM with a win over P5 Washington is the number 1 seed. One game at a time for the team, but we can talk about it as fans, I don’t see a loss on this schedule if Montana plays like it has the past two weeks. Clean up those turnovers, and play like this the rest of the way and we don’t lose.

I can see us moving up to 3 but I can see the top 4 being all but tied which begs the question has there ever been a 3 or 4 way tie for first? I can see Weber dropping out of the top 10,. I think the scats might move up a place and ucd should move up a bit and northern iowa could move up a place or two.

No change, too much bias to move the Griz just yet and that is fine. Plenty of time to be #1 at the right time of the season.
Love to see where this team is headed. Defense is pretty stellar, offense playing really pretty good considering changes in personal due to injuries at RB’s
