I know this won't sit well with fans but all we heard when we first beat Minnesota and then beat them again. was that we didn't play any good FBS teams. Then we beat Kansas, Colorado State, heard the same thing we weren't playing anyone tough. NDSU had scheduled KState a strong Big12 team and who in fact won the Big12 championship the year before we played them. We beat them only to hear that they weren't any good either.
I suspect you bring up Alabama as the likely hood is NDSU would be beat handily. By the way we do have Iowa for our FBS game next year and Oregon scheduled in 2020. Serious question for you. Who does Montana have scheduled for FBS games in the next 5 years? Our AD is having trouble finding FBS teams in our region who will play us anymore. The Big Ten commish came out with a new policy as I'm sure you know about not scheduling anymore FCS teams.
Personally I'm looking forward to the anticipated split of P5 from the G5 and how that will affect the upper tier of FCS. Hoping that we would end up with teams like Montana and other top FCS schools along with some G5 schools who would be in a conference that would up the overall level of play for all.
