Like everything else, little brother, even with your little stretch of recent success, you’re WAY behind.
Wow, it’s really been longer than a decade! Thanks for the info. You must be really frustrated with the lack of production.

Did you see that?
That was the point, going right over your head. Y’all went THREE decades without sniffing the semi’s, yet this little tiny taste of success has you acting like you’re the NDSU Bison.
You could make the semis (apparently your measure of success) SEVEN STRAIGHT YEARS and you’d finally be even with the Griz number.
Now, let’s do championship games. How many has MSU made? When was the last time they were in one?

Actually, you’re exactly right. Griz Nation IS frustrated with the lack of production as defined by post-season success. That’s a very different perspective from the historic definition of success in Bobcat World where it didn’t matter how bad the season was, if they managed to beat UM, it might as well have been the Super Bowl.
I’m actually glad MSU has been a good team in recent years. “The Streak” got boring tbh, and I think it’s better for both schools when both teams are competitive.
Seems to me one huge difference between the fan bases is beating State is not a marker of success, it’s an expectation. Nothing to brag about or rub State’s nose in. I suspect that’s why Coach toned down his rhetoric about the game near the outset of his second stint.
The taunting is tiresome because it assumes Griz fans care about the same things Bobcat fans do. I just don’t think that’s the case. Unless I have completely misread your stuff here, and you’re simply being a troll. If so, my bad for feeding one.
But you do you, man. I don’t think it’s gonna get much traction on eGriz.
Go Griz!

I agree with you on most of this...
1) The Streak was great for Griz athletics and Fans, but was bad for the rivalry. That isn't anyone's fault but MSU.
2) It is better when both teams are competitive.
3) Cats (in the past, and some now) did look at the Cat/Griz game as the super bowl, because at that time it was all we Cats fans had. We weren't coming into that game with a chance at the playoffs. The team and fans knew it was their last game of the year... Almost every year back then... Because of The Streak there are still feelings like that... They go deep when you lose that many times in a row... I was 10 when it started, and legally able to rent a car when it ended... Middle school, Highschool, college, and radio jobs in 3 different State all while never watching MSU beat UM. That runs deep.
4) I disagree that it doesn't mean the same to Griz fans as it does to Cats fans... Every poll on E-griz has to have a "Bobcats Suck" option or it isn't a valid poll...
I grew up in Bozeman as a Cats fan. I still am, and will always be a Cats fan. But now that I am in my 40s, with a business, a family, and more worries on my heart than I could ever put on one post, things have changed... I still root for/ love the Cats, but the Griz hatred that I had room for in my being when I was young, isn't there at all anymore. I now hope that both, when it comes down to that Loud and Cold day in November, are playing for not only Bragging rights, but for a Big Sky Championship to go to the winner... That's just me though.

They were in one two years ago.

Uhhhh…. The 2021 season… when was the last time UM made the championship?

Except I would diverge from you in one area: Were it not for some on this board, I just don’’t even think about MSU until the Brawl, and I really don’t care about the program other than I think it’s good when they’re both doing well.
Huge caveat here: my oldest daughter is thinking she wants to go into film production as a career (cinematographer or director), and she’s actually looking at MSU as one school to apply to. I would never dissuade my child from pursuing anything she wants to, natch. So if she becomes a Bobcat, Thanksgiving is gonna be real interesting around this house! Might mean I wind up checking Bobcat scores in the future. We’ll see!
