FCS Kickoff

I do love Cat Griz game as the last regular season game. It means a bit more with playoff bids on the line. What if rather than barking up the GameDay tree to come out here during the last part of the season, UM & MSU start off the season by being featured in the FCS kickoff. Not sure if Big Sky Confrence play can be bumped up like that though.

I think Cat/Griz should always be the last game of the year. I'd rather they not broadcast it, if that's what it took to keep it there.

No, keep Cat/Griz where it's at. We shouldn't have to bend over backwards just for a college sports show.

First off it hasn't always been the final game of the regular season. That date isn't a traditional thing. Instead it is a relatively new thing.

Secondly, I could give a Rat's A@@ about "GameDay". However, if you care, this would greatly enhance the chance they would come.

Finally, our teams could go into the playoffs with a bye instead of a brawl on that final Saturday, and hopefully with a relatively healthy team. That's opposed to playing the hardest hitting game of the year just prior to entering the playoffs.

They've been the last game of the year every year but one since 1993. That's not "relatively new", to me. Do you consider the Maroon jerseys relatively new, as well? Because they're newer than playing the cats on a week other than the last one.

If you want to take all of the passion and stakes out of the rivalry game, by all means, move it to the beginning of the season.

UofMman, it is all relative. Even 1993 does not seem that long ago. Dude, time really flies. You can quote me on that.

I don't think they were suggesting moving the date permanently, only one year to suck up to "Game Day".

I fully agree with you playing the brawl as the season opener would be really odd. Though I know the passion will still be there in August or September just as much as it is in November. All of the games prior to 1993 prove that. Again, I hope they don't do this. Particularly to kiss ass to a TV show. Though I am not married to it being the final game of the season.

I have no dog in this hunt, but was around when the games were in Oct. Had you been around then, you would realize they had every bit of the passion and stakes that today's do. Wins counted as much in October as they did in November and had the same impact on the standings.

That said, openers are not the place for this game. The teams are not yet established for the season. Ask NDSU....

Money talks and bull sh*t walks, good luck with that.

How does Gameday coming to the Griz/Cat game translate into money for either team?
