FCS Games Week #3

Sac state may be good, might even be very good this year. Beat northern Colorado 50-0 today. I don’t care who you play, if you blank a team you’re playing good football

With week 3 in the books my humble observations of the conference are this:

Griz have a VERY tough conference schedule, by far the most difficult in my opinion.

MSU should plunge out of the top 25 after their shitass performance at WIU. Western wont win a game this season, but the Cats looked undisciplined, unorganized and ineffective. OVERRATED!

UNDERRATED! Sac State. This team looks very good particularly on defense. Should be top 25 easy (in place of the perennial preseason champion Bobcats).

UC Davis. Probably best team in BSC right now.

EWU- hmmm. Very good, but obviously beatable. The Griz can handle EWU.

Weber...Good. Very good.

Idaho...nice game against the Pokes, but still..
....SUCKS.

*not a scientific study.

Good post BG --With 1/4 of the regular season in the books, the BSC is going to be a slugfest this year with what appears to be some really quality teams. Unfortunately, the unbalanced scheduling fucks everything up.

I wouldn't trade our schedule with Sac States--both however are daunting.
2019 Sacramento State Football Schedule
Aug. 31 - SOUTHERN OREGON
Sept. 6 - at Arizona State
Sept. 14 - NORTHERN COLORADO
Sept 21 - at Fresno State
Sept. 28 - Open
Oct. 5 - EASTERN WASHINGTON*
Oct. 12 - at Montana State*
Oct. 19 - MONTANA*^
Oct. 26 - at Cal Poly*
Nov. 2 - WEBER STATE*
Nov. 9 - at Northern Arizona*
Nov. 16 - at Idaho*
Nov. 23 - UC DAVIS*

What we know at this point is:
ewu is beatable
Idaho sucks
el Jeffe is finally a .500 coach after 3.25 years and has proven to be the best msu coach since Ron Ash.
A quality FCS quarterback still does not reside in the Gellatin Valley.

What we've always known:
ag state sucks.

If you'd been told me 3 weeks ago the Cats would beat WIU 23-14 and Bauman would pass for 149 with no interceptions, & that they'd rush for 197 yards & make 3 field goals, and that they'd do this while having 2 TD's called back, I'd have taken it all day. WI scored a TD on a pass where the DB fell down. They ran for 48 yards - that's 40 more than UM ran for last night for reference.

Why do the national pollsters like the Cats when the guru's on Egriz say they should fall from the top 25 (from #8 to out of the tip 25 after a road win no less) ? Hmmm, what could it be? Maybe they know a servicable passing game with no interceptions allows a running team to wear down a defense? Maybe they understand MSU did this without Anderson having a crazy running game, and Ifanse sitting it out. Perhaps they see a really good defense. I see a team that Bobby would kill to have right now.

Wow! Choach got to .500! And that’s gone unnoticed. Give the man some praise for taking that winning program, turning it into a losing program, and then, against all odds, turning it into a program. Amazing work!

Well, you noticed CDA. That's the thing about rebuilding.....you start out slowly, and build momentum. Bobby...he's rebuilding. Honestly....why the bone for Choate?

Uh...because Choach is a fucking genius. Nobody in the world gets as much praise for being OK.

Hahaha! Tomorrow, these very same pollsters you speak of will likely have MSU above EWU. If you think that’s true, you need to get off the glue. No one believes that is true because it’s not true.

Hahaha. Spray, did you even watch that dumpster fire? Two TDs called back and several other plays nullified by horrible lack of discipline. There were three (3) illegal formation calls. Zero offense against one of the weakest teams in FCS this season. For reference. WIU lost to North Alabama, whom the Grizzlies hung 61 on. Ah, yes...the Grizzlies did not produce but 8 rushing yards, verses #15 OREGON, but also didn’t give up 700 yards and 45 points or whatever Texas Tech did to your vaunted preseason No. 1 Defense. Hahaha! The cats are at full apogee and still suck. Watch what happens.

For the record, EWU is a much better team in my opinion than MSU. I see MSU somewhere between 10 and 20. A couple weeks ago I mentioned the only poll that matters is the one at the end of the season, and glue's not my preferred substance. It's easy to drink the Cool Aid of polls and write ups on your team, but if you read what I said, I didn't go there. Cats got a win on the road. On the the next team. We have a long way to go in the season, can't wait to see how it plays out.

No, I didn't watch it. I went bird hunting in the morning, and fishing in the afternoon - I have a life outside of college football BG. I don't think the Cats are at full apogee ( that's a beauty! ) unless of course injuries take over. If you think the Cat defense is bad, you're in the minority on Egriz. It's early, and I expect the Cats to get better weekly, the griz too. I'm doubtful the griz will be a running team this year though, and I believe that will hurt their chances to advance in the playoffs.

Is Bobby recruiting for the run? I honestly can't tell based on the offense.....

Ok. First of all you’re a bastard! Did you get any birds? Grouse? Huns? Fish? Tell us!

Full disclosure - I don’t actually watch the Cats unless they play the Griz but listened on the radio while driving. One thing the Cats DO seem to dominate the Griz on is statewide radio coverage. Also, I don’t think the Cat defense is bad: It’s top tier in the BSC, probably, but with their plodding offense they are not going to keep pace with UC Davis, Weber, EWU or the Griz.
I think Sac has as good or better defense AND more offensive juice than the Cats. The Griz running game is going to be fine. Because the Griz have a real quarterback and can actually employ the forward pass, the run game needn’t be the focus of offensive production but will be there when we need it (Knight has 4 rushing TDs already). We will see I guess.
