FCS Championship Eastern Washington vs North Dakota State

I don't really care who wins this one. I guess I'd like to see it come down to a really controversial call, or see one team get completely screwed over by the officials start to finish. A huge brawl could be good. Something to make it interesting.

Didn't the Bison get screwed on a call against EWU in the playoffs many years ago or am I remembering that wrong?

Eagles have a slim chance, and since we will be traveling that direction in January, I got tickets for me and the wife. If there's a chance to see NDSU upset, no better than a BSC team to do it. More of a vacation and a bucket list thing to see what it's all about. We have family in a neighboring berg so logistically it all fell into place.

Are the meteors still an option ?

I remember that play and yes, I thought they did. NDSU most likely would have brought home the hardware that year, except for that blown call on the last play of the game. I thought the body of the NDSU player never came into contact with the turf but was held up by the body of the EWU player underneath him as he crossed the goal line with what should have been the winning score.

The blown call on that play pales in comparison to the blown call by the officials in the championship game that went against Delaware, where EWU got a gift spot on the 22-yard line when the ball looked like it stopped about 2 yards short of that. That was on a 4th down play that EWU converted on and went on to score the winning touchdown.

I was talking this week to a high school classmate in Fargo and he said that the NDSU coach, Klieman, said the secret to NDSU's dominance is the in-state recruiting they do for their offensive linemen who come from small towns that play 9 man football. he said the linemen from those programs have the skills to dominate the line of scrimmage and give NDSU such a credible threat for the run on any play, they can pass at will.

This begs the question; What would it take for me to set my alarm to wake up and watch this game?

If UNDSU gets screwed by the officials you know there will be widespread tears. I hate watching fat people cry because they look like infants.

A massive brawl that spilled into the stands is enticing. Although the majority of ewu’s fans are already missing teeth.

I just don’t see much of an advantage to justify the lack of sleep.

Well put. I'm definitely rooting for the brawl that spills into the stands. I'd actually give EWU the nod in that instance because most of them have experience with fighting at plastic cup bars when a dude looks at them the wrong way after watching a UFC undercard.

Conversely, UNDSU fans have more experience with getting into an argument with someone in Tuesday Night League, and then responding by bowling a turkey in his face, and then eating a whole turkey; as is tradition.

EWU fans would beat the syrup out of UNDSU fans and speed off on Hayabusas.

NDSU most certainly does. I can think of two ND kids in the last decade who picked UND over NDSU.

It seems like UM has lost a lot of great kids to Montana State. Choate frankly seems really likable and they have also have a nice winning streak going for them.

It definitely seems like UM could be more successful if they could be the premier program in the state.

NDSU 42
EWU 20

Gonna be a joke, heck, im not even going, why bother. at this point, 7 titles in 8 years, could easily be 9 titles in a row without EWU (Bill Fette screw job) & (1 bad defensive stand vs JMU in 16)

NDSU is just too good all around, easily a top 25 FBS team this year.

Surprised by the lack of faith in Eastern.... after Eastern’s bye week, they changed their offense to suit EB3 when it was confirmed Gubrud was done for the year. Since then, They have rallied off seven straight wins, six of them by 21+ points (including the CAA and southland champs). Eastern has a shot to win this...definitely underdogs but better than they are getting credit for.

as much as I like to knock ewu, for me the lack of credit for them isn't a lack of respect. they're a good team. but no where near the level of ndsu. they literally dominate all three phases of the game. I think they win by about 20 or so.

A cat fan talking to an ewu fan about the undsu team.

On both sides of the ball No Dakota St is a damn machine. They should win another this year.

That being said, E. WA is more than capable of beating them. Eastern will have to adapt to the Bison defense being better than any they've faced. No Dakota will score plenty of points. They have excellent running backs and Stick has now started for four years and appears unflappable.

In the end Eastern can still out score the bison. The question is how long it take the Eagles to get their offense going, and how deep of a hole they're digging out of. If they keep it close in the first half Eastern has a great chance to win. Regardless, I don't see this game as a runaway as some are predicting.
